    Engine number mystery....... :/

They probably gave the job of putting the serial numbers on to the same bloke who put the fuel pump in the wheel arch?:confused:

    TD4 Running rich

Try running a few tanks of injector cleaner (diluted of course) thro' it may help and is a cheap fix to try for injector problems. It may take a few hundred miles to show any real benefit but will certainly do no harm.

    Mot brake test

Glad we ALL got there in the end! :):) My F/L don't go on any MOT rollers - Unless there are two sets and they rotate in diffent directions.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

    Synergy 2

Yup - Millers in ours too and very little knocking. Only using 1 for normal running - got the switch fingy for another setting for towing. Not tried that yet tho'

TD4 Poor starting, hot or cold

HI, Here are the descriptions from the Rave (for a two pump set-up) - Should be very simmilar for the one pump version as the HP pump is the same. The high pressure fuel injection pump is located on the front right hand end of the engine and is driven via a chain from the crankshaft. The pump...

    Coolant temp sensor

Hi FreeWilly - glad you got your fans sorted. :) Sorting the gauge may be a bit harder - see extract below from Rave system description - Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge The coolant temperature gauge indicates the temperature of the engine coolant. When the engine reaches normal operating...

    Mot brake test

Garfield - Just imagine locking the front wheels and then making the rears wind the IRD and diff around until something exploded  Would expect the VCU to be Fubared after trying that one!

TD4 Poor starting, hot or cold

Should have spotted the title oops! Late model - only one pump in the wheel arch then. Removing the Maf does trigger limp home mode but if that is not noticably different than with MAF connected then there is a problem around the MAF as I said above. :whoosh: As for the pump, it does not...

    W

Wiv the man above on that one. Get it checked out soon tho'. :):)

TD4 Poor starting, hot or cold

I am assuming that it is a TD4 as you have not specified? (does help) If running with the MAF disconnected makes no difference then it ain't working as it should. Could be the MAF is dead, could be the ECU ignoring a good MAF or it could be another fault telling the ECU to ignore the MAF. If the...

    Egr Blanking Mod

mwap5194 PM dazjam for a kit to finish the job. It works - no chance of damage if you block both ends of the vac pipe to stop foreign objects - squirrels Or ducks getting up the vac pipes. All credit to the Ming - ruler of Zog - damn fine mod. And missus Ming for keepin' the tratter boys in...

    Maf sensor

Ours were going a bit soft and didn't seal that well - @ less than 3 years old. Changed ours for silicone ones from Fleabay. No more leaks :):) Cost more but should keep it cleaner and last a lot longer. They did on the disco - six years while we had it and no leaks. ;)

    Somethings Not Right!?

Mine too and still uis - Rover 400 that is. :):) That's after a new (second hand) head to replace the original @ 70K that went porous

    Maf sensor

It's a thermistor - air temperature sensor. We got one our '06 TD4, not found it in the Rave or Haynes book but it must send info back to the ECU about the inlet air temperature. It is in the air intake to the engine between the intercooler and the inlet manifold. The air going past it has been...

    wiper motor fecked!

As you've had the top off the old one you have seen how it works. If the new one has the same no. of connectors and fits straight into the FL (mechanically) it may be adaptable. Or send it back "item not as described" - the choice is yours. Don't know if they did change the motor type during...

    Something fell off

Wiv Matt on that one - looks like a thread insert from the plastic housing. Probably was loose and your banging made it fall out. Just got to find the hole that has it's thread missing now? Bit of glue around the knurling and press it back in then do up the screw - all fixed.

    Freelander Front Wiper Problem

    Fuse box removal engine compartment

Recall seeing a recall/technical note on the Rave about wires rubbing under the fuse box? Have a look on the Rave at the recalls and technical notes. May throw a bit of light and help?

    wiper motor

Have you got a Haynes manual or downloaded a copy of Rave (google a link) it's free. Look up 'wiper motor' and gauge the work involved for yourself. I would say it's not too difficult a job but it's your call. It's simpler than a lot of other things that go wrong on the FL - but what the hec if...

    wiper motor

There's a park track inside the wiper motor. It parks the wiper when you turn it off and when the intermittent wipe has moved it part way for single wipes. This has probably gone wrong - may be fixable if you open up the motor and check out the contacts onto the tracks on the gear wheel...
