    Power Steering woes - HELP!

ok... Bad news I'm afraid... Mechanic confirmed that the pipe is corroded and needs to be replaced. I called LR and they have kindly sent me two files so that I can let them know which pipe is needed. Apparently one is around the £80 mark and the other around the £260 mark - The LR guy thinks...

    Mondo (Auto Gearbox)

I'll probably have to get mine checked too - Everything seems ok at the moment but you never know... I have an auto too and if we don't get any snow soon I'm thinking of having the prop shaft taken off which I'll store until next Winter. Is yours the V6? I'd be interested to hear what your...

    Power Steering woes - HELP!

The freebie is at the local garage at the moment. I bought some ATF from Halfords and topped it up the the maximum this morning then started up - It was perfectly quiet again however that pipe where it connects is definately leaking. It is where it connects into the rack (I think). The mechanic...

    Power Steering woes - HELP!

Hi all, Perhaps someone can shed some light on this for me... This morning when I started the freebie I heard a strange sort of sound. I didn't think much of it until I turned the steering wheel and a sound like a large cow "mooing" was emitted from the driver's side under the bonnet. It...

    Sticky brake....?

I think that you may have got a bargain there - I wouldn't do my own brakes either so if that price included a brand new calliper plus all the fitting etc it sounds more than reasonable. Just a quick question though... what was the surcharge you mentioned and what was it for?

    Sticky brake....?

£25 for a calliper...? I rang a 4 x 4 breaker this morning just in case and they quoted £45 ex VAT! Andy.

    Sticky brake....?

Hi all, Thank you for your insightful comments. This afternoon I visited a local garage (not the one I bought it from). The mechanic had a quick look and it has been booked in for Friday morning. Between now and then I expect I'll cover under 40 miles or so - so all should be well until then...

    Sticky brake....?

Hi all, After a short run this evening of about 8 miles I got home and drove forwards onto my drive which slopes downwards. While the engine was still running I popped it into "N" and took my foot off the brake to just let it roll slightly forwards but nothing happened! I then put it into...

Low power at high revs - 2.5 V6

Hi, There are a few knowledgeable guys on here with the same model as ours (one guy in particular is VERY helpful). Stick around for a while and I'm sure that one of them will be able to shed some light on it for you. As I'm a really sedentary driver I can't be of much use on this sorry. Andy.

A few small jobs. Anyone know of an indy or knowledgeable forum member??

Thanks... Is booking needed? and is it something that I can hang around for or do I need to get someone to drive down with me? Andy.

Thanks for all the info guys. Unfortunately doing any work at all on my car is a nightmare (damned sloping driveway). Andy.

A few small jobs. Anyone know of an indy or knowledgeable forum member??

Thanks for this - I wouldn't trust kwik fit with anything anymore to be honest - Why?? I took an audi A4 to them for an oil and filter change once. They dropped the auto transmission fluid instead, replaced it with about a third of the quantity that had been lost and left me to drive home with a...

A few small jobs. Anyone know of an indy or knowledgeable forum member??

Hi all, I want to have a few small jobs done on my freelander and I'm keen to find out if there are any independent garages near Dudley (Black Country) or Birmingham. Failing that, perhaps an experienced forum member who has the tools and would like to earn some extra post christmas cash would...

Low power at high revs - 2.5 V6

5,000 rpm - That's about 2,000 rpm higher than I have ever pushed mine. Generally the maximum for me is 2,500rpm then it changes gear and the only time it goes above that is when I'm on the motorway where it sits on around 2,750 at close to 70mph. How fast are you going when you're doing 5,500...

My First Land Rover - Its got some issues!

Thanks for the helpful comments - By the way... How long should it take for a newbie with just basic spanners etc? I'm thinking that if it's only a "quick" job I may just whip it off tomorrow afternoon and then if it looks as if we're going to get some snow - pop it back on ;-) Andy.

My First Land Rover - Its got some issues!

Hmmmm.... Is the prop / VCU setup the same on the V6? If so, based on what has been said about the difference in handling etc, I may just remove mine in Feb (if there hasn't been any snow) and leave it off until next November. Do you need to have it jacked up to remove it (I have quite a...
