i paid 70quid for a gearbox, transfer box and overdrive couply months ago, i paid a bit more seein as it had the overdrive but i would pay 50 quid just for a gearbox and transfer box. :D

have you checked all the tappet clearences, point gaps, plug gaps and timing recently? I'd do all that an then see if the emmisions are still rubbish. if that doesnt help i'd recommend cleaning and painting the chassis, won't help the emmisions problems but it'll keep you busy!! :D

I beleive if you use the later gearboxes the front propshaft will foul on the crossmenber that runs under the clutch housing. you need to move this forward or cut a bit out. also your rear prop is going to be really short as said previously. yer later gearboxes are longer than the series...

think its compulsory for all series to be made of a random assortment of bits from various years!! the 81 model had a 3 main bearing engine as well, thought it should have been a 5 bearing one by that time! it must have died at some point as well!! :rolleyes: cheers for the help though!!

yer i seen that, the series 3 im working on is a 1981 model but my 1974 series 3 which was donating parts for the later one has the "replaces rtc3510" seals as well so i'm thinking the newer design seal will just fit where the old seal came out rather than the hub assembly being different...
