I got to order up a new battery cable, im going to get the terminals crimped onto the cable, one for the battery and the other for the starter motor. Does anyone know the size of the ring connector for the starter motor on a Defender 200tdi? I got a choice of 8 or a 10 size connector.

Like the title says but the biggest cable I can find is rated at 415 amps. Will this be enough or do I need a higher amp cable? I mean if you got a 800 CCA battery surely I must need a cable rated at 800 amps or more or maybe use 2 cables. :confused: Defender 200tdi.

So whats the Defender 200 tdi starter motor CCA rating? Well its all very well chucking 800CCA batterys in Defenders but will the starter motor and standard wiring actually use it or is it wasted?

Its an ex-mod FFR there are earths everywhere and they are fine so is my wiring but I have tested my Red-Top and it wont hold a full charge its had it. They dont last forever. Cheers:)

Well 800 does sound comfortable and im realising again why I bought the Red Top, a lot of muscle in a small package!!

Nice one shall have a look. My landy is 1993. I nearly took a sledgehammer to my battery box!! All they had to do was make the box flat at the bottom and life would have been so much easier. Got there in the end god knows how im gonna get my red top out LOL! Angle grinder?:D

I know what you saying but im limited to space and obviously the higher CCA the bigger the battery. I got 2 Elecsol deep cycles under the seat which gives me 200ah and my red top starter is fooked!! So thats 3 batterys under the seat. Cant justify buying another red top, imo a normal well...

Ok I had another go at it, your right it comes from the starter solenoid but the specific wire is spliced into one of the 2 main thick brown wires coming from the solenoid (or connector block) that run behind the dash. It seems the third wire that has shorted is spliced right behind the dash so...
