    Into the Cabin

The RAVE disk has a section on fitting optional extras which include running cables as you require. This is quite useful as it incudes diagrams

    Tyre Pressures

There is a whole series of calculations based on axle weights, rolling diameters, tyre widths et al to produce the "correct" tyre pressures. Having done all that the manufacturers use road testing to modify them for their own purposes. This basically means that when you operate in specific...

    Leaky sunroof

Can't attach a pic as mine is now in bits. Sit in the car facing forward and open the blind. Leave the sunroof closed and look at the side above the passenger seat. Almost flush with the glass is the plastic cover about 10mm deep running front to back. When you unclip the cover you will find the...

    TD4 Clutch Pedal

The Missus can't drive the Freebie at all because of the clutch load. Even makes my knee ache if I drive all day.

    towing a freelander

Although the Td4 unlike the petrol has a two piece pipework the connector is self sealing and the sytem in not refillable. The second pipe does end in a bleed nipple but the system should not be bled normally during the life of the system. I suppose if you have a problem with excessive pedal...

    Leaky sunroof

It was astonishly easy to get the glass out, in fact so easy you have to worry about security. Along each side there is a plastic strip immediatly below the glass running front to back. This pops of with a gentle pull using a screwdriver. This in turn reveals three torx head screws on each...

    Freelander towbar

The fog cut off is more to disable the foglights on the car when towing, just leaving the caravan fogs on. If you don't all you get is a brilliant red glow of the reflection from the caravan in your rear view mirror. Therefore all it does is break the feed to the fog lights when the trailer is...

    Leaky sunroof

Trying to come up with a solution without buying a new glass panel. I thought initially that the seal strip went both over the metal frame and the glass but apparently not. The metal is approximatly 7mm bigger than the glass all round which is what the seal fits on and there is a step in the...

    Leaky sunroof

£132+ for a new sunroof:mad: so now I am trying to think laterally to make a new frame out of ally:confused: I was right to be concerned about the wind deflector mount except that it did not break while trying to straighten it, it way already broken when I looked with the bit laying in the...

    Leaky sunroof

I've got the sunroof glass out. The seal is distorted because the metal frame was bonded to the glass has virtually rotted away:frusty: Would I have to get a complete new glass or is the frame available?

    temp sender?

Don't forget that most modern cars do not have the temp gauge directly driven by the sensor but by the ECU which can produce spurious readings. Poor earthing on the gauge normally makes it overread. My old Maestro (yes somebody did own one) used to run its gauge off the stops every now and...

Car seat question - want to buy a Freelander

Not many vehicles will support 3 ISOFIX side by side in a row, lets face it the Freelander is not exactly narrow itself. Even the Fiat Multipla which is quite wide only supports 2 child seats. I am not even sure if the 3 seat row cars have ISOFIX in the rear.

    Leaky sunroof

A couple of times during the winter I had some water dripping through the blind of the sunroof. The seal around the glass is wrinkled particularly at the back and the seal edge seems hard. The RAVE disk covers removing and refitting the seal but should I really look at replacing it and how...

    2 Issues, advice needed

Almost definitely the VCU. Get the propshaft off A.S.A.P before you do severe (expensive) damage. Quite right that the fob has nothing to do with the immobiliser. It would seem that there is something wrong with the transponder module in one of the key heads. Several companies advertise that...

    240V inverters
