    Disco 200tdi Alarm Query

I have not been able to get the indicators to flash when arming or disarming the system even after replacing the batteries in the remote. The alarm works as explained in the book, inside sensor operates when using the remote and not when locking with the key. Also imobiliser does the job. I...

Lights are on but no one home! Battery fine but no start..

I had this problem a few months back, turned out to be corroded crimps on the fusible links specifically the ones next to the brake servo. I had posed the question about a repair kit and the one mentioned in this string costs in exess of £100. I have looked into replacing with an engine bay fuse...

MOT's due will this hole result in a failure?

Accepted I have to get the loadspace floor replaced or at least within MOT spec. I have found a hole in the drivers side inner wheel arch. The hole is about 3 inches from the bulkhead and about 4 inches long and is along the wing seam from the bulkhead to the coolant resovoir. I need to know if...

    Pre 1993 Fusible links problems

Thanks "nicedayforit" for the link, checked out with my local dealership, kit AMR 3927 is correct for my Discovery but it's no longer available. I doubt it's something any dealer/repairer's likely to have kept "just in case" so will have to keep a close eye on my repair until I get round to...

    Pre 1993 Fusible links problems

I have a 1993 Discovery 200tdi which has recently taken to electrics failure just when you need her most. I have managed to trace all the failures to the fusible links. These links are 8 to inch long brown wires marked fusilble link which are crimped at both ends to a heavier duty cable. The...

    Torch the f****r

I agree salt's not good, when I bought her the first job was to clean the underside which was caked in 10 years of mud. My guess is that's what caused the rust damage along with winter road salt especially as the rear spashguards fell off with the mud and the drivers side inner wing parted...

    Torch the f****r

I've had my '93 200TDI for about 5 years in which time I've had the alternator fail, 3rd gear synchro fail both within the 1st week, dealer replaced free of charge. Then head gasket blow, garage job including skimmimg. 1st MOT failed due to badly worn front tyres, tracking out had to have all...

OK, I admit it, I am a clueless woman, 300TDI MOT Failure help please?

On the MOT: I have a local garage that was quite good, they used to advise at each test any work that may be required during the following year. This stopped a couple of years back and sure enough both my cars failed the test at first attempt. The problem is the garage are able to carry out the...

New Exhaust fitting on 200 tdi

I had the rear box fall off my 200TDI earlier in the year, bought a new 2 part system from my local Landrover shop. Getting the remains of the original off was simple, took a grinder to it. The problem with the new part was the weight so I went underneth with the centre section and my son fed in...

    Brake pads click

Spoke to Paddock Motors and without hesitation they said Calipers worn. Fortunately kept the old pads and measured the backplate found the after market replacements are made to the lower tolerance hence smaller which is why they move. Next set of pads will be originals, should have learned my...

    Tailgate door lock problems

Recently I've not been able to lock or unlock the tailgate door using the remote locking system. I unlock the door and have to use the key in the tailgate door in the unlock position before I can open the door. I thought the problem was down to the solenoid so I bought a replacement. Installed...

rad weld to fix heater matrix joint?

I go with Charlesy, you've taken the trouble to strip down the dash put in a replacement matrix. As the point of radweld is to seal holes it will eventually cause unwelcome blockages elsewhere, most likely will be the radiator core and that breeds untold devastation once the ambient air...

    landrover discovery 200tdi manuel

If you don't want to part with £12 at your motor accesories shop why not photocopy the pages from a Haynes manual at your local library, shouldn't cost you more than £1.

    Brake pads click

Took the wheels off today and found the pads to move up and down on the pins because the mounting holes in the pad back plates are elongated. They appear to have been made this way probably to allow for the tolerances in the caliper castings but obviously a bit on the generous side. This...

    Brake pads click

Thanks for the input, have visually checked all the pins, springs etc are in place so pads can't go far. Strange thing, noticed the pads only click when braking whilst moving forward so pads are definitely moving. As to manufacture they are AP Lockheed bought from Paddock Motors.

    Brake pads click

Should I hear the brake pads click evertime the pedal is depressed? At the begining of the year my 200 tdi failed it's MOT due to bad disc wear on the rear. On inspection none of the discs looked to bright so I replaced the lot, scoured the web and mags and got a reasonable aftermarket deal...

    Rear Shock

Is there a common problem with rear shock lower mountings? On holiday last week we hit a rough patch of road and there was a loud knock from the rear. On inspection the near side lower end of the shock absorber had gone right though the mounting, lost the bump stop as well. I've never seen...
