300TDi told NOT to use veg oil - I have searched

Forgot to ask, what about using central heating oil (cho)? (very cheap to buy) Red diesel is 35 second and cho is 28 second as far as I know. But cho feels abrasive when rubbed between fingers whilst red diesel feels smoother.

    Smoke test FAIL

+1 again. I was told this was called the Wide Open Throttle test or something. I regularly give it a blast through. Nice straight bit of motorway and floor it. All the cr*p really does come out.

300TDi steering box same as Rangerover?

My box is leaking. I have just ordered some Lucas "Stop Leak" Lucas Oil Products (UK) - Heavy Duty & High Performance Lubricants as per a thread on here advised and will try it because my leak is small...I have bought a Litre bottle £20 and 340ml bottle was £10.50 (Do I chuck the whole bottle...

300TDi told NOT to use veg oil - I have searched

Sorry to drag this up, but I am in a dilema. Spent two days reading the threads on this forum; loads of 300TDi owners use veggie oil apparently (or used to - old threads). How many of you have used it for a long time and had NO injection problems? A thread from this site led me to here...

wife moaning - turbo or overfueling?

Thanks for that. Thanks for all help in fixing her up. Feels good to have managed it. Feels great to have her running well. Just want to go and have a good look at the debris now and figure out if it really was me !

wife moaning - turbo or overfueling?

Thanks guys. Fixed. Intercooler was jammed packed. You know that blue industrial tissue type stuff - it was all in there. I think I covered up the air intake on turbo with tissue once when I took air cleaner etc off to change shock absorber turrets. I reckon I left it there when reassembled...

wife moaning - turbo or overfueling?

So, fitted new silicone turbo pipes. Still not right- bit too much smoke, and low on power (although after a damn good thrashing she seems to run better for a while with less smoke most of the time), but if floor it after 50 mph, so much smoke you can't see behind you. Will get boost pressure...

Thanks for that. Will give it a go.

wife moaning - turbo or overfueling?

Said it wouldn't go over 30mph and black smoke out the back. Yeah right I says. Well she was right. Ok, so it had been smoking a bit lately (120k (as far as we know) 300 Tdi, auto box). From what I searched on here it could have been overfueling (coz it was black), turbo pipes delaminating...

shot in the dark, but you guys may know...

Well, think it'll have to be "they all do that" for now. 4 new shocks and new SAE 80/90 in all places. Been under it most day and seen not a lot. Nice deep cut in eyebrow when spanner slipped. Not quire deep enough for stitches (at least as long as the plaster holds up). If I ever find...

shot in the dark, but you guys may know...

Yeah, thanks. I will be under it again tomorrow (today). Thought of a mount, but then I thought "why does it stop when I apply the brakes?" If it wasn't for the brake bit of the equation, I wouldn't be so worried, but brakes and steering are about the 2 most important bits I figure. Will...

shot in the dark, but you guys may know...

... or have come across it before. Disco 300 Tdi, automatic. 100k miles Making a new and odd knocking / rattle noise from underneath and when going over rough ground, say a potholed carpark. Disappears when brakes applied, but appears to still be there when going uphill and accelerating...

    RAC OR AA etc

HI, Which service do you recommend? AA RAC Greenflag etc? I have a disco, automatic and if they need to be taken home you need to be on the back of a recovery truck don't you? It's not good to be towed is it? So which service is the most ready to send out a lorry?

    cheap locking whell nuts where

seems stupid to have same grooves, therefore interesting to find at least someone has different groove patterns. Am now considering buying 2 different types just to put the bas***s off. Yeah, it is only to put off the casual bas***d, not the determined one. When I meant cheap, i should have said...

    cheap locking whell nuts where

second hand looks good. Now, you know the pattern or grooves and ridges in them? Are they all different or are all discovery owners running around with the same type of locking nuts?

    cheap locking whell nuts where

Anywhere cheaper than paddocks? Then again, I guess I need good ones as the alloys are nice, so what type do you recommend, and where to buy from. Thanks
