I used to get from Canterbury to just outside of Lincoln which is about 188 miles on quater tank. driving about 65-68 MPH, which for a disco aint to bad. just hurts a little when you go to the pump. 90 litre tank @ £1.18 per litre.

i had simular thing on mine, but did it on reverse and stopped the wagon moving. turned out there was massive play on the front prop. what happened was the bolts where hitting the prop and acted like a brake.

the fuel sender unit could be knackered, making the needle show empty hence the red light on. and the heater could have air lock or blocked heater matrix, could try bleeding the system of air. can be a pain in the arse. have a look a previous thread on here about it.. Oh and welcome Stu

I think the only disco's that have ECU's are from '99 when it changed to the TD5. I could be wrong so take it with a pinch of salt... Stu
