    www.overlandwithkids.com

Thanks for the comments. Will try hard to keep website up to date - promise! Jury's out on education - we're not so concerned about our younger (boy) who'll be 5.5 at time of travel. It's the older (daughter) who'll be 9.5 and then at secondary school age when we return - she'll need some kind...

UK to OZ - Vehicle Familiarisation

Looks very impressive. As ever - many thanks for the really useful posts and information. We are off to LR Billing show in July as we think we'd probably get a much better idea of what we think might fit the bill finally - roof tent, trailer, ground tent, or other. Trailer option looks good...

Initially, we were determined to keep it compact -i.e. just the vehicle with a roof tent BUT having done a shake down trip, we really enjoyed the ground tent option recently - more room and flexibility. The downside being set-up and pack away etc. - fine for a few days but not for quick...

Had a look at map route and wondered how you plan to re-route without maybe going through Russia and into China to Nepal (if this is possible/feasible). Then had a look at possibly shipping vehicle by sea from certain point instead as can't work out how your going to re-plan. Would be interested...

UK to OZ - Fuel Tanks

Definately like the idea of these over the long range fuel tank option. Are these something we can consider fitting ourselves - or is specialist help needed?

    My110 weekend camper conversion

I feel much more normalised now - at least you can see your passengers from the back through to front! I think it looks tidy considering. Can anyone beat these 'how to pack a landy' or 'worst packed landy' photos!? Or has it all been done before? First prize - reckon Tarsus should come around...

    My110 weekend camper conversion

Your conversion looks really fab - can see what we've got to aspire to - nothing like our 'pack'n' go mess. . can't find a bleedin' thing unless it falls out!!!! Imagine............ packing and then all set to go - then............. battery flat before you've even left the drive - and jump...

    Explorer/Overland Roof Tents.

I cheated with the window tint as just for the rear cargo area of the CSW which is covered again with exterior grilles. Although we'd have loved to have got it done professionally - cargo area somehow didn't warrant the expense and we've had to start watching the pennies ----ssssssooooooooooooo...

UK to OZ - Vehicle Familiarisation

Grilles are on, windows are tinted, fridge is purchased, seats are in and we have been on a shake down trip to Wells. All good so far. Bleedin' expensive. Could have bought open jaw tickets and travelled the world already what with buying the LR and kitting it out plus all the camping kit etc...

    Explorer/Overland Roof Tents.

I want it all!!!!!!!! But following shake down trip, have had a bit of a change of heart about original plan to buy canvas Howling Moon 2.4m x 2.4m roof tent: There will be 4 of us travelling long-haul but weight (98kg without rrack and bodies). But, we don't plan to spend ALL our time in tent...

Which Fridge - Luna or Engel?

We plumped for a brand new 40ltr Engel in the end. Bought from Simon at MPS. Not fitted to split charge as yet and we took it camping for a shake down trip to Wells-next-the-Sea over the half term holiday. It was really fab. We plugged into mains directly on site. Wow - what a difference it made...

UK to OZ - Fuel Tanks

Thanks Griffdowg. Will check it out further but reckon thats the cost for just one. Will have a look at the site you mentioned. With kids and full length heavy tent - jerry cans might do it - it is just a space thing we need to think about - just wondering really whether worth considering or...

    Stolen 110

Scary and worrying. Am in the process of expedition preparing a 110 CSW and appreciate that many people probably have their own secret security measures in place but just wondered if for example: You have immobiliser, wheel lock and steering lock - is this enough to prevent vehicle being stolen...
