    Fuel starvation??

Thanks - I will do. Looks like it's not going to be this weekend though sadly. I take it from the earlier comments that the straightforward removal indicated by your instructions might be a little more tricky than you suggest!!!!

    Fuel starvation??

Thanks for that. Wrong guess on next post though - where's the sedimenter??:) I assume that the suggestion is that the sedimenter allows fuel to leak out causing a air to be dragged through the lines. It then fills up again when it rests?

    Fuel starvation??

Bit of an odd problem. 300tdi, 1998 on an R plate. Took it for a long run today (200 miles). Going up a hill after about 50 miles it started getting a bit sluggish and slowly lost power (2 mins or so). I'd been on a motorway for about 30 miles I suppose and was in a bit of a rush, doing...

    Gearbox numbers

Guys, Trying to order a clutch slave cylinder for a 110 Defender, 1998 on an R plate. Engine is a 300tdi. Not near the vehicle but need it for the weekend. Paddock say that they must have a gearbox number - is there no other way of telling by the age of the vehicle. My experience of these...

    3.5 v8 with su's will not run

I am slightly puzzled by the fact that one bank is doing one thing and the other something totally different. The way the inlet manifold is set up (as already discussed) makes it pretty unlikely to be carb related. Equally given the firing order one bank shouldn't be doing one thing and the...

Any more thoughts on this topics - I want to start buying some bits!!

    new build registraton

There are 3 ways of building a car (and this assumes that it is a kit with a manufacturer that can provide all calculations necessary to justify the construction), simplifying: i) To get a new reg plate you have to have all new parts save that you can have one major item (engine, gearbox...

    new build registraton

Having been through the SVA process with a kit I would strongly urge you against it but if you do go for the IVA, I hope all goes well.

    new build registraton

Killnorton, I think if you recall you will have built the vehicle up from a donor vehicle even if the reality is that you have effectively replaced virtually every part in the original vehicle. If you hadn't have done that of course you would be subject to the IVA (more stringent SVA...

Thinking of lifting your Landy? Read this first.

I've just started the ground up rebuild of a 90 (prepare for many stupid questions!), well I've spent the weekend stripping the old one - its a 1980 and has 170k on the clock. Going back to the 1st post I was thinking of lifting mine. I'm going to replace all items listed in the failures...

    3.5 V8 max rev limit

I'm in the process of reading Des Hammill's book. He seems to indicate that 5000 rpm is the realistic limit for stock parts.

    Belt tensioner bearings

    Belt tensioner bearings

Thanks, Just had a look on interweb - to check - is it the 17x40x12 bearing that we need? Jon

    Belt tensioner bearings

Thanks guys. I'll get one - we fortunately have a GKN stockist close by.

    Belt tensioner bearings

Anyone know the size of the bearings in the serpentine belt tensioner please. There is also another guide wheel I think further down which has a bearing in it and if someone knows the size of that it would be great. Just saves me taking them off and the vehicle out of service while I get...

    Insurance claims question

The answer to the question is 'yes'. You can repair the damage yourself. You will however be met with strong resistance and the other side's insurance company will almost certainly insist that one of their nominated suppliers completes the work. I have had this and ended up having to take...

    Snow Tyres...

Charles, I'm afraid Tacr2man is correct partly for the reasons set out in Luke's subsequent post. You will have stated that your vehicle has not been modified from the standard specification in the proposal form. Tyres are a fundamental element of that. Contracts of insurance are...

    Electric Fan Wiring Diagram.

Thermostat is only a temperature controlled switch - wire in and wire out. Wire into thermostat will be + in, wire out will go to the fan. There will be another wire on the fan that will go to ground to complete the circuit. Run the + in to thermostat to ur switch and run the wire to the...

    Richards v Marsland?

Sorry - was in the middle of researching the various suppliers and therefore thought that everybody would obviously be able to read my mind and know what I was talking about!! Redhand was absolutely right - I was talking about a new galvanised chassis. Jon
