hello lads,i,ve changed my coolant temp sensor due to bad starting problem,the car now starts first time but only after counting for about 7 secs?but for some reason i,ve lost the glow plug light on the dash:confused:,i,ve checked and theres 12volts at the g/plugs,what controls the cycle...

is there any fault showing?

i can,t get my head around why by just removing the battery this lads been severly left in the ****!i too need to disconnect my battery(cleaning up earth points,starter motor terminals etc)but after reading threads like this it scares the foooking life out of me and if been honest its another...

right then gents,just been out disconnected the coolant temp sensor,started with a couple of cranks-yippeeeeee.and i have,nt used it all week.question is will it hurt the car to run without it.i can,t get one till middle of week.

cheers wammers,obviously i could be ****ing up the wrong tree here,but the fact my car hesitates to start hot or cold and these sensors play a big part in fueling i,m hoping its one of these thats fooooked.cheers

cheers matey,the one connected to the inlet manifold is the intake air temp sensor,then theres the 2 behind the fip,i,m presuming the furthest from the front of the car is the coolant sensor but whats the other 1?fuel temp.

hello all,can anyone explain to me please what exactly the coolant sensor has in relation to the fuel system and what effect it would have disconnecting it.also is it poss to change without draining the coolant system if your quick.thanks

cheers lads,thanks to you good people and your expertize i,ve done the "flow test"and i,m getting 180ml in 10secs:)good fuel pump.i,m gonna change the coolant temp sensor,can this be done without draining the system-if i,m quick i should,nt loose too much coolant,well thats my way of thinking?if...

right lads,spill pipes changed,new g/plugs,no air bubbles so i,m thinking electrical so i,ve disconnected the coolant temp sensor hey presto starts up after first glow plug cycle BUT i,ve drove it a couple of hundred metres and it won,t change gear?is the coolant temp sensor/gear change...

how exactly would you go about measuring such flow rate?

well its happened twice to me now and because you loose control of your steering i should imagine if you were doin any decent speed a change of underpants would be needed.both times downhill,is there any way of checking these 2 sensors?both sensors(no4 and crank sensor)are related to startup so...

cheers lads,mines a 2.5dse,might be in my head but it seems to do it just after i,ve give it a bit of welly up hill?not quite sure if this is related in any way to my poor starting problem i have.the only corroded connections i can see are the ones to the starter motor.

hiya amongst my many p38 faoults i,ve developed a dangerous gearbox fault which cuts power to ignition,stalling the car.luckily its only happened at 20mph,but its left me wondering what if it happens at 70mph:eek:.any ideas folks.

best of luck matey but if it were me goin all the way to francein my p38 the only thing i,d be towing is an RAC van,should in case i need him:D
