    VCU Query

Thanks for replies. I went underneath again to take a couple more pics of it to show how rounded it is on the front but then I spotted this.... I think I have found my problem!!

    VCU Query

Just had a look underneath, looks ok I think with no signs of oil etc - here are a couple of pics. Checked by hand and both props move independently (could only move them a small amount, just to take up the slack). If I held one side tight the other would move. Could also move each the opposite...

    VCU Query

Definitely only one wheel - and that one was only just off as my jack doesn't lift very high! I will get under the car and have a closer look at the VCU. Nodge - thanks, that is what I suspected that it failed open but I thought this was very uncommon... It was replaced back in 2010 about 70k...

    VCU Query

Hi Everyone, I have just done the VCU test on the back wheel....took around a second to drop from the top to the floor. I thought this would be the case as I could turn the wheel by hand with very little resistance. I checked the prop underneath and as I turn the wheel the prop rotates, as does...

    04 spotlights/fog lights wiring help

Yes that is what I did. Mine now works so the switch itself illuminates when any lights are on like all other switches ( I think that was the red/orange wire ) and then when full beam is on, the relay activates to light the driving lights and a small red light comes on the switch itself too.

    04 spotlights/fog lights wiring help

Yes the lights in the pods - here's a pic of mine too. I had no manual - just a couple of wires loose in the glove box. Had to work out the wiring from the engine bay to the glovebox and the switch so I could work out what needed to be connected where, to get illumination to the switch and to...

    04 spotlights/fog lights wiring help

I have the driving lamps fitted to mine, when I got it they didn't work as the previous owner obviously gave up trying to wire them into the fuse box. I know the wiring for driving lamps is different to fog lamps but the wires that I needed to connect were actually the same colour codes /...

    Freelander radio code

Hi everyone, I have the CD multichanger double-din head unit on an '05 Freelander but I have no code. The radio currently works properly but I am concerned that if the battery goes flat or gets disconnected for some reason, I will not have a working radio. Is there a way of finding the code...

    Drivers Seat Wiring

Thanks for replies, looking a bit further it seems that one of the previous owners had a "smartnav by Trafficmaster" system installed. This appears to be the remains of it there's also a small push button elsewhere. Just have to work out how to remove it now! Cheers

Clicking / light knocking from rear when braking

Hi all, I have noticed that under braking (seems at low speeds only) there is a clicking / knocking noise coming from what appears to be the n/s rear wheel. It's like a heavy click / light knock and not like a scrape. It doesn't do it when not braking. Could it be anything to do with the...

    Drivers Seat Wiring

Hello, I have recently acquired a 05 plate TD4, while having a nose around it I noticed that there were a load of wires loose under the driver seat. There's a couple of what look like audio input connectors and a few plugs. Can anyone give me an idea of what these are? I have traced the heated...

    New to the Forum

Hello I am new to the forum. I have just acquired an 05 plate Freelander TD4. My first ever diesel - I get scared when looking in the engine bay! Used to petrols (recently had a Freelander 1.8 until the inevitable happened with the head gasket). Any hints or tips on what to look out for with...
