Freelander 1 Tailgate glass - summary of knowledge?

It was working properly then the cables snapped so I tried to replace them (in the rain) and while testing it I noticed the "Cam locking tensioner" wasn't right, think it was locked solid and as the tailgate was opened I could see the slack in the cables being taken up and then the window...

Freelander 1 Tailgate glass - summary of knowledge?

I had something similar where the tailgate glass would only drop slightly (also slightly un-even side to side) and would catch on the top when the tailgate door was opened. I then had to manually push the glass down about an inch before I shut it but it came up properly each time. This was...

    Fuel burning heater on constantly

Mine does that at the moment, pretty sure it's the environmental sensor that's dodgy on mine. It warms everything up nice and quick though! When I get back home it's running on something like an idle mode I think. If it's a slightly warmer day then it doesn't do it, which is what makes me...

    Freelander 1 aerial

I had this too - I used a small drill bit, I think it was about 2 or 3mm and was going to use an 'easy-out' on it. I got somewhere between 5 and 10mm down the thread that was left in the mount and noticed it moved slightly. Reversed the drill and it unscrewed with the drill bit. That was on a...

    Freelander 1 Powerfold mirror problem

Thanks - that seems to have worked for now, the drivers mirror definitely takes longer to move in or out than the passenger one though and sounds a bit rough, but there's nothing saying that it hasn't been given a wallop before.

    Freelander 1 Powerfold mirror problem

Hi all, Got back to the car the other day to see that the drivers side wing mirror had been pushed / smacked in. Didn't think much of it at the time, just moved it out to normal and drove home. Then decided to make sure that the power fold still worked, which it did, or so I thought. Both...

    Tailgate window mech

Hi all, My tailgate window mech has been making some grumbling noises recently and today it got stuck half way. It would raise about an inch then stop and drop an inch. I assumed that the cables had gone inside and luckily I had a spare set in the shed. I took the whole assembly out and...

Freelander 1 Starting okay but then cuts out......

I have learnt something from this - they say that everyday is a school day! Cheers Nodge.

Freelander 1 Starting okay but then cuts out......

I had a new key cut for mine which used the original transponder from the old nearly broken key. When I got back to the car the new key wouldn't turn the ignition barrel as it wasn't quite cut properly. I had to use the old key but it wouldn't turn over as the transponder chip was still in the...

    Freelander 1 Td4 2006 Front Fogs wanted

I may be wrong but I am sure that I read something about the front fogs not fitting to a td4 if it has a fuel burning heater inside the front of the passenger wing...either that or it might be a right pain to fit I can't remember, but I am sure that I read something about it.

    Newbee again

Because of it's age and being the auto, pretty sure that's going to be a band L which is £540 per year. Anything pre sometime in March '06 was capped and band K.

    Tyre Advice

The tyre place gave the rim a good clean and have put some sealer around it. It seems ok so far but I will keep my eye on it. I have a spare in the shed, from my old Freelander (that is now in heaven), so if need be I could get it swapped over.

    Tyre Advice

Thanks, took it to the tyre place yesterday and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I got them to replace the valve just in case. Hopefully that will stop it losing air.

    Tyre Advice

Thanks - I am going to get it checked out shortly, if it needs replacing then I'll get two and put them on the back and keep the other decent one as the spare.

    Tyre Advice

Hello all, I have four matched recent tyres all with very good tread, only done a couple of thousand miles tops. One has developed a slow puncture so I will take it to get checked (it's the front left). I've never managed to get a puncture in a repairable place before, it's always been on the...

    Chipping advise

I have just had mine done. Well re-mapped rather than 'chipped'. It's quoted as increasing the power to 140bhp and the torque to 340Nm (250 lb/ft) and did EGR delete and a few other tweaks. It has definitely made a difference but it hasn't turned it into a hot hatch by any means! The power...
