My facelift td4 stays on which ever you selected but the old one always reverted to the odo rather than trip.

My old 2001 1.8 did exactly the same.

I had an alternator go on a previous car (petrol) and as the battery drained to almost flat, all sorts of lights came on the dash everywhere, like engine management, abs etc. Something to do with the ecu's for the different parts not receiving the full 12v to run properly. Replaced alternator...

Also put the windscreen wipers on then select reverse, the rear wiper should then activate. I had a similar issue on my old 1.8, I only realised because the rear wiper didn't work when normal wipers were on and I selected reverse. Replaced the reverse switch on the gearbox and it was all fine...

I have the pod type driving lights on mine, as far as I can tell the loom doesn't use any of the cars existing wires, other than where they are spliced by the internal fuse box. Yes the 06 plate td4's have two tax brackets, the earlier ones are about £315 and the later ones after around the end of March are something like £500 so consider that too if you're looking at FL1's of that age.

If I recall the facelift 1.8's had a coolant level warning light in the display to help with this too, the pre facelift did not.
