For Sale Freelander 1 Pre Facelift Handbook and Wallet - Postage Cost Only

I have a Handbook with Wallet for a pre facelift Freelander 1. It was from my old 2001 1.8 GS. It's all in fairly good condition. Anyone want it for the cost of the postage only? (£2.95 Royal Mail to UK as small packet). Cheers

My issue was just with the brake pedal switch, once I re-seated it, problem went away.

    Starter Motor - Freelander 1 TD4 2002

I changed mine myself the other day, it took me about an hour and a half, but some of that was chatting (I am not a mechanic). You can get to it from the top and it's a couple of 13mm bolts and a 15mm if I remember correctly. One is a bit fiddly but on the whole it's not too bad. Just take...

Meat loaf was wrong, 2 out of 3 ain't good....

I have an '05 td4 and have had just two lights on (I forget which one doesn't come on), I looked it up and it turned out to be something to do with a warning for the brake light switch being faulty. I checked the lights and sure enough they didn't work. Found the switch under the pedal and...

    Fuse box cover?

Thanks - having not had a sunroof in either FL1, that explains why I have never seen anything there!

Freelander 1 Dash Cam Wiring with pics

I noticed that there were quite a few posts asking about hard wiring a dash cam. I have just done mine and I thought I'd post a brief guide with pics of how I did it and how straight forward it was so that others won't be put off doing it. I ordered a 12v to 5v converter and one of those piggy...

    Fuse box cover?

I noticed on my fuse box cover on the right hand side there looks like a small clip / holder for something (where the Land Rover Emblem is), any one know what should be there? I wondered if it would be one of those things for pulling the fuses out but that's in it's own space in the fuse...

    Tyre Advice

I have four identical tyres on the car at the moment, they were fitted mid to late 2017. I got the car early 2018 and sorted a few problems which caused the tyres to wear unevenly (vcu issue, slow puncture on another etc), all is now fine. The problem I have is that the rear pair have approx. 7...

    High mileage td4 engines

Mines on 120k. My old 1.8 got to 132k before the head gasket went.

    Freelander 1 38MPG any good?

I get about 24 from the td4 at the moment o_O ...but a lot of my trips are really walking distance (for me, not for the small person that I have to take to school), and others are no more than about two miles. However on a run it seems quite good, pushing 40 I think. Even the low mpg around...

    ODO meter bad behavior

My facelift td4 stays on which ever you selected but the old one always reverted to the odo rather than trip.

    ODO meter bad behavior

My old 2001 1.8 did exactly the same.

    all the lights, BINGO

I had an alternator go on a previous car (petrol) and as the battery drained to almost flat, all sorts of lights came on the dash everywhere, like engine management, abs etc. Something to do with the ecu's for the different parts not receiving the full 12v to run properly. Replaced alternator...

Time to Start Doing a Few Jobs

Also put the windscreen wipers on then select reverse, the rear wiper should then activate. I had a similar issue on my old 1.8, I only realised because the rear wiper didn't work when normal wipers were on and I selected reverse. Replaced the reverse switch on the gearbox and it was all fine...

    FL1 Facelift Aftermarket Driving Lights

I have the pod type driving lights on mine, as far as I can tell the loom doesn't use any of the cars existing wires, other than where they are spliced by the internal fuse box. Mine has the relay in the engine bay, just in front of the battery, it takes a feed directly from the positive battery...

    Freelander 1 TD4 Towing question!

My manual '05 TD4 SE shows in the log book that the "Technical permissible maximum towable mass of the trailer" is 2000kg for a braked one (also normal 750kg for non-braked). Don't forget that the towable weight includes the weight of the trailer, a decent size braked trailer usually weighs...

To buy or not to buy??

Yes the 06 plate td4's have two tax brackets, the earlier ones are about £315 and the later ones after around the end of March are something like £500 so consider that too if you're looking at FL1's of that age.

To buy or not to buy??

If I recall the facelift 1.8's had a coolant level warning light in the display to help with this too, the pre facelift did not.
