    2.2 TDCI Gear Change Quality

You would think that I would be able to answer this question myself or at least find out the answer because to alleviate some boredom in my retirement I regularly collect and deliver Land Rovers all over the UK for my local dealer - but to be honest I can't find a satisfactory explanation and...

TC Light flashed once reversing up hill in my Defender 90? Normal??

Thanks for the acknowledgement my friend - it's really nice to be able to answer something as I'm usually the one with the questions!

TC Light flashed once reversing up hill in my Defender 90? Normal??

I would have thought that the traction control light illuminated because you had momentary wheel spin on one or more wheels carrying out the manoeuvre you have described - in my opinion the light confirmed the traction control system was doing its job at the moment of detecting slippage. I've...

    Genuine Defender 200 tdi conversion

Will the existing exhaust system require replacement? I don't know the answer but just a thought.

Changing disks, pads and caliper any tips?

A tube of Copper slip grease for the rear of the pads and if you do buy wheel bearings, do not buy cheapo ones - Timkins or similar are what you need and usually you get new tab washers and 52mm nuts in the kit at about £20.00 per side.

    Rattling rear windows...110CSW

Not as professional as some of the suggestions given but I used to cut smallish pieces of felt and stuff it in to appropriate gaps in the frame using a blunt screwdriver. The felt I used was from a set of various shapes and sizes used on furniture legs to prevent floor damage etc. - you buy...

    300tdi Defender Starter Motor

Had exactly the same on mine in the Summer - called the RAC as I was not in a position to mess about on it at the time. A mixture of embarrassment and relief when it started up.

    Leaky sunroof fixed

I was really surprised that just by removing the glass panel and carefully cleaning the rubber upper surface which had a slight accumulation of hard brown moss/earth all the way around, it cured my leakage completely. It was one of those situations where although it was dirty, you couldn't...

    DEFENDER WANTED! MONEY WAITING!

1996 90 300 TDi genuine County Station Wagon with Marsland galvanised chassis. Spent about £6000 on making it in to a standard acceptable to me - that is bog standard but very serviceable and attractive. Price not yet decided but I'm afraid I can't let it go cheap.

    I Should Have Checked!

I always feel better when I've broadcast some of the dummy things I've done occasionally. I remember rebuilding a highly tuned Escort engine and almost started it before I remembered I hadn't put any oil in the sump.

Thanks everyone for your replies which are most appreciated. Those on this site plus others on another forum I belong to are very helpful.

Selling a Defender - what scams am I going to face?

I promise this is not a back door sneaky advert but as per the title I may well be selling my Defender soon to buy yet another. The adverts will probably be posted on *bay and *utotrader and I know that I will be bumping in to some less than savoury characters who will try it on. As this...

    Door seal

I replaced both of the front door seals on my 90 300 TDI Station Wagon - all was well with one seal but the other had splits in it in a number of places. The supplier provided another but that was just the same so the only alternative was to buy a genuine LR one which I seem to recall was about...

1996 300 TDI Station Wagon Opening Side Windows

I hate my side windows with a vengeance because they rattle, open up slightly on their own allowing draughts and wind noise (the felt stuff has all rotted away) and are easy to open from outside. So I've been looking around for a replacement set and have ended up confused. Possibly my biggest...

    Front air vents

Replaced these on my 300 TDI - much easier to get at the bolts if you remove the bonnet first. Also - although the adhesive on the back of the seal (when you remove the backing paper) appears to be very tacky and up to the job, in reality it's a bit feeble. I used Bostick Impact Adhesive to add...

110 200 TDi exhaust connection at the turbo outlet manifold

Thanks for the info - been online and the Gungum paste and bandage does seem the way to go - I thought there may have been some sort of olive missing perhaps. Spent the day replacing the windscreen wiper cable drive and wheel boxes so will get the exhaust stuff tomorrow.

110 200 TDi exhaust connection at the turbo outlet manifold

I could do with any advice going please to try and resolve this problem. I have a pal who is totally hopeless at anything mechanical so I've been "volunteered" to help him where I can bearing in mind that I have a 300 TDi and have never been confronted with the 200 TDi before. Also this...

Precautions while storing Defender for four months?

I'm really not sure if diesel fuel is affected by what I'm about to say but you often hear of people complaining about petrol mowers that will not start due to having been stored over the winter months with fuel left in the tank and in the engine system. This will produce a gungy disgusting...
