hey guys i own a defender 110 td5 was wondering how difficult would it be to convert back to a 300 tdi i have access to a 300tdi engine and gear box i did some research and found out that i will have to change engine brackets on the chassis. can i reuse the td 5 box once i change the bell...

yup thats the first thing i checked as i said once it starts it runs great but once i switch off chances are ill almost run down the battery trying to start it back up or if im lucky it fires up right away

one more question is 300 psi a normal compression test reading on a td5 ?

the only thing i noticed but maybe normal i dont know as im new to land rovers is the fuel gauge fluctuating while cranking just taught it may be a hint to an electrical problem ill be going to the garage that has the van in the morning to try the fuel line slice ill let you guys know thanks for...

can i rule out a cracked cylinder head ive heard its a common problem on td5 s ? no over heating with mine though !!! and if its air in the fuel whats the solution ?

i am actually thinking of putting a 300 tdi drive train due to frustration i guess u cant beat them for reliability how practical you think it maybe to do the swap ?

how can i check to see if there is air being sucked into the fuel system read that it may be the cause as well ?

i actually took it to our local landrover dealership as well as an independent landrover repair shop both had land rover diagnostic tool

read alot of guys saying ground cable or even a bad starter drawing to much amperage ??? they are saying it may affect the voltage to the computer ????

not even close to zero tropical climate year round the engine tumbles fine but just wont start if i walk away and try after a while it may or may not start

i checked them myself with a voltmeter hooked up they all glowed and had proper voltage

just spoke to the previous owner he also replaced the glow plugs
