    P38 DSE - Alternator error

Yep, the car run fine for about 5000km after fitting a "new" engine an FIP. But i will insist with the mechanic to double check the FIP. The car is in a bosh center (where the FIP was fitted) as the first diagnostic (made by my usual mechanic) pointed to an error at the FIP He's checking the...

    P38 DSE - Alternator error

They changed my "old" FIP for an overhaulled one..("old" unit for a "new" unit) I assume the top of the FIP wasnt messed, as the mechanic assures theres nothing wrong with it - they even changed a sensor on it during these odissy.. Could it be the electronic injector?

    P38 DSE - Alternator error

Mechanic is cheking the connections at the fuse-box... I heard it could be also a faulty ECU... So, things to check: -Fuse-box -ECU -Bcem -Trottle potentiometer Could it be the flywheel?

    P38 DSE - Alternator error

Wooohh....thats a master degree in alternators!!!!! Well...the mechanic will fit a new crankshaft sensor today.. Will ask him to overhaull the alternator.. Meanwhile, bought a fuse box from ebay... Theres a sensor in accelarator (throttel potenciometer) for the DSE? Or is just for the...

    P38 DSE - Alternator error

oh, forgot to mention....driving in low gear its hard (start driving the car from park, engage first gear and so on until a confortable speed, say around 50mile/h in fifth -about 2500rpm) ...have to use the cluntch or speed the car or else it seems the car will stall (lots of bumps), even with...

    P38 DSE - Alternator error

Just talked with mechanic....its not the alternator..not from there.. (its charging..with around 13,9v) The high rpm with idel engine (about 2000rpm when it should be 750rpm) is the big issue here..

    P38 DSE - Alternator error

Hello, After about 5000km with a swaped engine (from a bmw 525tds), trouble free, my rangie show me it wasnt that ease.. (Kept all the "old" other parts: fuel injection pump, alternator, starter motor, turbo, flywheel, injectors...) Idle, the revs are around 2000, 2300rpm...the rev gauge...

    P38 DSE Overheating (yet another)

Hello, When i swaped my old engine for a bmw 525tds, the mechanic made some holes in the thermostat.... Noticed then that engine temp barely goes above the blue zone.. I wonder if this is a reliable solution.... (owner manual states that normal engine temp neddle at the gauge stays at midle)

P38 - Crack in the cylinder head vs crack in the block

thanks seanmull for the tips. both engines will be side by side...and everything i can take from the "old" engine to the "new" one will be swaped. both bmw and my range are manual, so i will keep my "old" flywheel. no changes here. at the end, will be just the block and head from the bimmer...

P38 - Crack in the cylinder head vs crack in the block

Well, the range is at the shop to swap the engine. The donor will be a bmw 525tds... Drive belts seems to be ok, as the engine. Will keep my injection pump, starter motor, turbo (all of them recently overhaulled), the electronic injector (and the other 5) and the glow plugs (new). The sump...

P38 - Crack in the cylinder head vs crack in the block

If i was so sure as you are... I changed the head for an used one that was pressure tested and looked fined. New gasket and bolts. At this point, dont know if it is a cracked head or block or both..so i go for a "new" engine" - keeping the "old" one. It has 55kmil, 1500euros - 1260GBP(engine...

P38 - Crack in the cylinder head vs crack in the block

Yep, first i bought an aftermarket one (blew up)...then i got a genuine one. But it keeps overpressuring... I overhaulled the fuel injection pump and the starter motor, fitted new glow plugs and a new electronic injector. Runs wonderfull now. No hot start problems neither cold. But then...
