It sucks, but how much is enough?

As I said, I've tested this and it doesn't work as it should. To be clear. engine off, pump pedal till hard, depress pedal, start engine, no drop in pedal. Thus vacuum or servo problem. Vacuum is working, but feels weak. What should it feel like? Should it be able to suck onto my thumb? This is...

It sucks, but how much is enough?

Nothing happens. There is no drop in the pedal after ignition. The pedal is hard to push down before and after engine start. Hence I'm looking into the vacuum system. Edit: I'm confident the pump and hose are OK now. I rev'ed the engine (which I wasn't doing before) and I can feel a very...

It sucks, but how much is enough?

There is clearly something up with the brakes in my 110. Driving along, brakes felt 'nominal', then the next time I went to use them the pedal was very hard to depress. I've started running the usual checks on the vacuum system, but my question is this, how much suck should I be getting from my...

Half hour job turns into a two day job

There is no such thing as "I'll just...". I was looking at my track rod ends whilst putting my brake calipers back on. I thought "I could just whip those off in a jiffy fo rthe brand new ones in my man cave." Then I thought better of it. There is probably some mathmatical model to be derived...

New Brake Calipers: OEM or Aftermarket

I take it stainless pistons don't come as standard with a new caliper then.

New Brake Calipers: OEM or Aftermarket

Any thoughts on whether to buy aftermarket or OEM calipers? What do you actually get for the extra money for OEM? Better anti corrosion? More accurate machining? Ben

Photo of brake pad retaining pins/spring needed

Evening all, So I took a photo of the front brake pad retaining pins and spring attachment before disassembling my front brakes a few weeks ago. Trouble I've lost my phone in the interim and can't remember how to mount the spring. It's the kind of spring in the image below. Does anyone have a...

    Front brake pipe/bracket component check.

I don't think you can. If I fitted the bracket on the wrong side the retaining plate that holds onto the brake disk mud guard wouldn't fit and the flexi-hose mount is too far forward (I think). If it IS that simple I'll be very happy.

    Front brake pipe/bracket component check.

My beast is an E reg (1988) 110 which originally had a petrol engine. It has no ABS. I've been overhauling the front braking system: new pistons, seals, and pipe work. Whilst trying to undo to flexi hoses from their lower attachment on the swivel housings, I broke the brackets which (obviously)...

    Swivel pin leak

Yup. Only the bracket bolts. Haven't touched any others. I realise this may lead to an answer along the lines of "Don't worry about it then"...

    Swivel pin leak

Not sure if the following behaviour is normal: I changed the mounting brackets for the front flexible brake lines that are attached to the swivel housing. When I undid the two bolts that hold the brackets on, grease started oozing from the bottom of the swivel joint seal. So it seams the only...

    Warning light panel seal

Afternoon all. I was being nosy and removed my warning light panel today. The seal behind it has perished and wasn't in a fit state to be reinstated. Does anyone know the part number or is it a scrap yard job? Ta, B
