    Choosing a replacement suspension shock

OEM it is then. Thanks. Next question: length. I don't know if my vehicle has been lifted in the past. It certainly rides quite high. The crown of the wheel arch cover sits 3 feet above the deck (unloaded) and running on 265/75/16 tyres. Now I'm not asking how to measure the suspension lift...

    Choosing a replacement suspension shock

I need to replace my shock absorbers, but I'm struggling to find objective reviews or compassions. From looks alone my 110 has stock oem shocks fitted. I only partake in occasional green laning so I don't need anything super fancy/expensive like Old Man Emu, but I was eyeing up the terra Firma...

Steering box adjustment - tight bits

I think the torx splines will shear of first. Either way is not good.

Steering box adjustment - tight bits

I was kinda hoping the nut and hex bolt could be removed to a vise and coerced into divorce, but it seems like that's not an option. I'll wait for the plusgas to arrive and see if that helps. Thanks for the advice so far.

Steering box adjustment - tight bits

I know GT85 is far from ideal. Turns out I'm out of WD40 and can't just pop to the local hardware shop. :( Not heard of PlusGas. Time for some Google-Foo. Thanks.

Steering box adjustment - tight bits

I'm trying to remove some of the slack on my steering wheel by adjusting the steering box. After a little effort and application of a 1m breaker bar I managed to free the main 3/4" nut. Trouble is the alien key bit is the middle now just moves along with the bolt. I'm hesitant to apply similar...

Where should this air hose be connected to?

That's what a blanking plate does. (As long as it's fitted correctly) :)

300tdi Air filter dump valve nipple thingy

In the end I just repaired mine with Tiger Seal. I'm sure a quick bit of Google Fu would find a rubber cap of the correct diameter.

Where should this air hose be connected to?

I have the same arrangement on my 300tdi. It's just blanked off. I have no idea what is meant to connect to. Perhaps anything you want? Secondary snorkel? Secondary filter?

300tdi Air filter dump valve nipple thingy

Still £17 after VAT and P&P! :( But at least that's a tenner cheaper. Think I'll try Tiger Seal and if that fails I'll cap it off. I already have a snorkel fitted. I thought part of its role was to allow dust from the cyclotron affect to escape...?

300tdi Air filter dump valve nipple thingy

NRC8955. Why are they so bloody expensive!? £26 for a bit of injection moulded rubber and all the other versions for other engines are £3. Does anyone one have a serviceable spare they're prepared to part with in exchange for a few quiddies? Alternatively I could see if Tiger Seal can repair...

Replacement 110 near side external rear wing

That is exactly what I meant. Bum. Thankfully it's not too bad so the TIG should be able to fix the missing bit.

Replacement 110 near side external rear wing

This weekend's project was replacing the Jerry can locker in my beastie. Getting the locker was a mission in itself, but that a different tale! I extracted the old locker with the usual defender surgical precision and steady hand. Inspection of the resultant gaping maw showed evidence of the...

Need a new alternator, but which make!

After getting a battery light yesterday I tested my electrics and long story short, was getting the battery voltage (12.3) across the alternator with the engine above idle. I gave it a few thwacks with my persuader to see if I could shake the brushes loose, but nope. (It worked on my old Volvo)...

Any tips on removing the front diff

How can you tell of the CV is heavy duty or not just by looking? Till now I've never seen one in person. And is there any benefit in the heavy duty CVs if you're only doing mild green laning?

Any tips on removing the front diff

Right, next bit. Need some advise on wear and tear and in the principle of a picture painting a thousand words here is a video of my questions. Also take a look at the area on the half shafts where the oil seals sit there is wear here. Another reason for replacement of the half shaft or just new...
