I am currently running 7.50 tyres on my 88" series 3 (2.5TD engine). I have been offered a pair of range rover 10 spline diffs.
Has anybody used this combo? Does it make the gearing too tall?
sounds like an earth fault to me, i had a beetle where the lights would only work on high (the other way around i know), turned out to be a rusty earth.
Haynes manual tells you but anyway:
Remove power steering pump belt
Slacken alternator mounting bolts and pivot alternator
Remove alternator drive belt
Reffitting is the reverse of this procedure but make sure you tension the belts correctly.

I work in the development of fuel injection systems, DO NOT attempt to adjust the injector in any way as you will render it useless. As cabbie says clean it all up and fit new copper washers.
not sure if it's the only difference but the discovery has the turbo under the exhaust manifold so you have to use a special pipe for the exhaust. Defender has the turbo on top.
Just picked up a defender engine for under £300!
Search on here for advice on the conversion, it has been covered several times in the last few months.
As for the heater get the control valve from a series engine and screw it onto the TD lump. Its that simple.
As for the fan get the biggest you can fit. You will probaby have to get one that...
