What is that noise on start up ?

It sounds like the FB but deeper. From the engine area and starts about 30 seconds after starting, lasts about 3-4 seconds. Noticed it on other FL1's I looked at, so I'm assuming it's normal, just curious

Has it got to be the injectors?

From what I've read through, weather is the common factor. The warmer the weather, the less the problem. Which would indicate that it's just plain old engine wear. The colder the block the worse the initial compression.

Has it got to be the injectors?

No one knows the answer to that. This topic has been done to death and many, myself included, have spent way too much time and money trying to solve it without joy. The general view is that they just do it and live with it.

Isn't there a severe loss of power if your turbo pipes off (besides noise). I'd ask the for a refund from the people who did test.

They're cheap as chips new. Carefull replacing it, check tank neck for cracks.

    Opinions please.

Most 2nd hand car dealers sell cars their previous owners wanted to get rid of, ex lease, ex hire, auctions or px. The chances of getting a decent one at a decent price means I have never bought a 2nd hand car from a dealer or someone pretending to be a private seller. I certainly wouldn't buy...

(hopefully) buying a Freelander 2 tomorrow - anything to look out for?

I've never heard of a car being written off for an ECU and clocks to get new keys to work. If it's all working as it should then no problem.

(hopefully) buying a Freelander 2 tomorrow - anything to look out for?

V car means it's listed as a write off, in any group A-D. HPI check is a must. Was this the current owners cat D or did they buy it cat D. Many people buy their cat D back from the insurance if it's viable, especially if it's a theft and been stripped, rather than accident damage. However, in...

Facelift freelander does the glow plug light come on the dash?

Counting to 4 is a whole lot easier than taking out the dash ;)

    Biodiesel

Just to clarify for OP. Bio diesel in it's literal meaning, is an organic based refined product from palm oil or rapeseed for example. This is not on any forecourt I've seen. Most bio diesel available is made from WVO (waste veg oil) and should be made to a specific high quality. SVO...

removing the inside of freelanders cat?

I know, I had a Pug that did 50 and it's a bit of a shock. But I knew it's mpg before I bought it and it's doing what it says on the can, so can't complain. At the end of the day it's a big heavy car and 4x4, the Hyundai and Kia do even less mpg. I guess it depends on your mileage. For me it...

    Landrover freelander 2005

There is a formula using the serial number I found on net, can't remember where, google it. Or if it's the original radio, then dealership will do it and for free if you're nice to them.

    FL 1s...common as muck ?

Well I guess like many others, I'm loving mine. Reliability wise it's no better or worse than any other over 10 year old car I've owned. Unjustified and silly nickname for a pretty good motor. My only gripe, why drivers seat has no height adjustment

    FL 1s...common as muck ?

Being a newbie to FL 1s, I have now noticed just how many of them there are about, and of all ages. Which either means they are not that bad or as other landies would say, shows how many of us idiots there are about

removing the inside of freelanders cat?

My personal opinion is they are a waste of time and money and can be worse not better. A bit like the Crypton tuning of the old days. You can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear, as they say

    Biodiesel

For some reason bio isn't readily available nationaly. Supermarkets did start selling it a few years ago but stopped as quick as they started, mainly due to lack of demand. I'm lucky as there is a WVO professional processer near me, the next nearest is over 100 miles away
