If your egr valve is gunked up then your inlet manifold will be also. Have a look at the sticky thread regarding the EGR bypass. I cleaned out my egr, pipes and manifold then unplugged it. I couldn't get over the amount of gunk in the manifold. It took two cans of oven cleaner to get rid of all...

Sorry I didn't read it properly. Yes I had the wouldn't rev up to red and replaced the crankcase breather which resolved it. I can hear my pump when I turn the key. Try that first.

I had similar issue and changed the crankcase breather and all was resolved. Got mine from EBAY for £21 but BMW have an upgraded one without the filter in which by all accounts a lot better.

mmm... It looked to me that the front prop was aligned with the VCU and then the rear prop goes off centre to the final drive. I would have thought that it not being completely straight would put strain on the bearings, mounts. when in four wheel drive. Am i correct?

Funny one this one. Over the last couple of days no smoke on start up. I can't understand it. Would the excess of pressure from the old crankcase breather somehow managed to push some oil through and now this has been changed have resulted in no excess of oil so therefore no smoke on start up...

Hi At the back of the engine compartment (TD4) i noticed that something like water was dripping out of a pipe which looks to me to be some sort of overflow type pipe. is that what it is and should i worry about it?
