can i put grease in my s2 swivel hubs.

Old seals sealed round the circumference and had to be tapped or pressed in. Some currently available (like from Paddocks) seem a loose fit but in fact have a rubber layer on the inner face of the steel cover - and actually seal nicely. If you're cutting a seal to replace it (Army practice in...

    Front Wheel Cylinders

Nice sharp cold chisel may remove them. As you're replacing the cylinders you havn't got to worry about studs as the new cylinder will have them. Otherwise grinder, heat them and they'll probably undo . . . .

Do I have the standard seat frame? (picture)

Britpart DELuxe (from Paddocks) will fit and look fine. Need UNF bolts. They seem reasonably comfortable - probably not as good as the original but I don't know if anyone elses are any better as decent foam seems difficult to get at the moment. They have plastic material on the back - same as...

    Burning Oil

27,000 miles on a 30 - 40 year old vehicle is - unlikely. If it has only done that mileage then the chances are its never got warm and will have been driven with the choke out - which may have wrecked the engine as the excess fuel will have washed the oil from the bores. At 127,000 miles the...

    How much did you pay?

If you don't want to rebuild the things straight away I'd keep looking and try and find something that was a viable runner with an MOT now. Before buying it I'd asses that chassis and body so that I had some idea what I was letting myself in for and if major repairs were likely soon I'd keep...

    wiring tow bar electrics

Get a wiring diagram - there must be plenty on the internet. Wire socket according to it and fit it to the vehicle - then run the 7 core cable up to the back of the off side light unit and take the internal cover off. If the vehicle is wired as original you'll find all the relevant...

    Air filter question

Take the pipe off the carb and see if it makes any difference. Its very damp at the moment so the engine won't inhale any atmospheric dust in the short term. Don't confuse the large increase in induction roar with extra power! The oil bath cleaners aren't generally considered restrictive.

    Swapping worn rockers

I did this the other day. S3 book said torque the lot in the original order. No mention from what I remember of loosening the others. I simply tightened the rocker bolts from the centre - outwards progressively.
