I would try changeing the oil first with some oil flush in it and then changing it again after a couple of hundred miles and see what it's like after that, could be cheaper than pulling the gearbox out for someone to tell you it's ok.

Some have the Diff Lock fitted in the transfer box but the linkage isn't fitted, why this is only Landrover can answer. Disco 2's have traction control which works really well and will get you out of most things hense most don't have diff lock.

It will have 2 lever's anyway normal gear selector and one for Hi/Low. The easiest way to find out if it has Diff Lock is to crawl under and feel for a small square lump in top of the front of the transfer box.
