bennys not right on that, I had the same problem, would start and idle fine but put it under load and it would miss fire. If the injector loom had oil in it the missfire would be there all the time even at idle. I tried to drive mine home but at less then 40mph had to pull over to let the queue...

How long have you had the car and what do you know of it's history? As said check the fluid and the master and slave for leaks, they're not really expensive and when I had problems I changed both just to make things easier. A change of Gearbox Oil would also help to make the gearbox changes...

The wee propane tourches are handy used them a couple of times to get things out, won't get it white hot but should get it hot enough to get it moving.

Ask around some of the local garages, they must get their jacks tested as they are classed as lifting equipment and need tested every 6 months under LOHER. Who ever tests them should be able to fix them.

I can see where you are coming from but in my experiance when the MAF went on my Disco it had a flat spot and slight miss fire. Cleaned the MAF with contact cleaner from work and made no difference. Once I disconnected the MAF it ran fine but used more fuel as the default MAF settings don't work...

It's a TD5 so all the injector leak offs are channeled through the head so you can't see them.

Disconnect the plug to the maf and see how the car drives after that to check if the maf is faulty. If it drives ok then the maf is goosed, if you still have the problem then it's else where.

My guess would be possible fuel pump failing, mine done this to start with then just died.
