    Timing belt broken, I think...

We got our parts today and I noticed that the pushrods are a bit different. We were sent BR2176 and I think we had 546799 installed in our motor. After doing an Internet search both numbers seem to Pont to the 300tdi engine. When testing then on one of the rocker arms thereally is a little bit...

Anyone have a part number or bolt size for the camshaft pully retaining bolt, Ive searched a while online and checked in the manuals but they don't have the part numbers... Anyone have an exploded diagram of the cam with part numbers? Cheers and thanks!

    Timing belt broken, I think...

Well I got the bolt out, was much tighter than I thought it would be, and a lot more of it was in the cam also... never the less it's out and we just now need the parts to arrive. I will hope for a bit of luck and if we don't have any I hope we can limp to the land rover mechanic that's 2 hrs...

The overhaul manual says discard the 18 bolts securing the head...

    Timing belt broken, I think...

That is exactly what I need to know... if I do start it up and it runs well and smooth then there is "definitely" nothing else wrong e.g. no vent valves or anything else?

    Timing belt broken, I think...

OK thanks.. that kinda answers that as I have neither all the tools or goo facilities... we are in a parking lot that gets rained on once or twice a day (torrential downpours) if I take the head off I need new bolts and gasket according to the manual...

    Timing belt broken, I think...

Got a couple question for all you experts or self-proclaimed experts... 1) Should I take the head off or put it all back together and see if it works first? 2) if a tappet or valve is damaged do i run the risk of causing more damage to the motor if I try to start it? Thanks in advance for your...

The only difference right now from here and england is the temperature, it's the rainy season, that and there is no decent chip shop or pub in sight

Sounds like a plan... Anyone else out there ever have the cam pully bteak off?

    Timing belt broken, I think...

Well at the moment I can't turn the cam with the pully broken off and a piece of the bolt still in there (will try to get it out after breakfast but first a trip to the hardware store to buy a punch) While we are on the subject of the cam, once I have the bolt out and new pully installed how do...

    Timing belt broken, I think...

I read somewhere on landyzone that that tends to be the case and that is also what I am praying like hell that it's also true in our case!!!

    Timing belt broken, I think...

I did feel some resistance it wasn't like spinning or anything and I didn't turn it much, I just wanted to see if it moved at all, should I rotate it and see if anything "feels" Strange or makes any crunching noises (which I figure would be somewhat bad right ;))

    Timing belt broken, I think...

I did see that that can happen after doing so research and used a flashlight to peek down the pushrod channel. I didn't see any obvious damage but that doesn't mean anything... I will see today if I can source some parts and how long it will take to get here. I will have to replace all the...

    Timing belt broken, I think...

I should be able to get parts, there is a landy mechanic 2 hrs from here who also sells parts so perhaps they have some things in stock already and we don't have to wait a couple of weeks before we see if the valves are screwed. With the bent pushrods and rocker assembly removed I checked to...

    Timing belt broken, I think...

Been travelling for 1 1/2 years there is no work to ring anymore. Good question! the pin is ok the whole is a bit stretched, though i imagine it has to do with the timing, as far as I know its there to ensure the pully can only be put on one way. But I am sure others know better than I do...

    Timing belt broken, I think...

OK will give it a try Though what about the somewhat stretched out guide hole? I doubt the guide will stay in now without the addition of some liquid metal...which I'm not sure would be a good idea to begin with... I'm a bit scared to take head off, those bolts on the manifold look like they...

    Timing belt broken, I think...

Have taken the cover off and it is worse than I first thought.... The belt is shredded but not broken, the bolt holding the cam sprocket on, however, broke and that caused the sh*t to hit the fan... "only" 3 bent pushrods and as far as I can tell no damage to the rocker but I have a piece of...
