    Off Road Novice - training?

Don't mind a few dents and scratches - they add character; don't fancy picking bits of my motor out the ground though! will keep eyes peeled...

    Off Road Novice - training?

I've had my 110 a few months and not had a chance to get it properly muddy - but have limited knowledge of where to go, or how to drive it when I get there! Any suggestions for a training or somewhere friendly to learn near Basingstoke?

    What MPG do you get?

LOL - might have meant mpg!

    What MPG do you get?

Had mine a month. 110 300Tdi, which gets used on the back roads to commute to school. With a mixture of that, and a few lane trip and motorways, it consistently gets 30-31mph. Well chuffed, as I budgeted for 25 before I bought her :)

    Split Charging

I intend to spend the odd weekend living out of my 110, and it would be nice to use the radio, rear spotlight and other electricals without fear of killing the starter battery. I have a 75amphr battery which I have used to run an electric outboard, it's in spot on condition, as I stopped using...

    Rear door locking mechanism

I got one via the dealer I bought my 110 off, as the lock was faulty. Took less than 10mins to replace, as the old unit simply unbolted and was replaced with the new. Had to recycle the plates and nuts/bolts to fix it in place, and the lock barrel from the front doors also fits (took the chance...

    Defender owners - What's your other car(s)/vehicle?

My 110 Hardtop is my daily drive - 18miles each way to work. Get's used at weekends for transporting all my fishing gear around muddy lakes, or dragging me and my paintball kit to tournaments at other times. Very occassionally used for long runs, and if I fancy a change, I sometimes borrow my...

    Rear Seatbelts

My 110 hardtop came with a two person folding bench seat in the rear. It has a seatbelt fitted, but one which runs the length of the seat, and will only allow one person to sit and wear it. I'm a bit dubious about it's safety. So - whats the legality of rear belts? As I understand it, I don't...

which ones most expensive? It's bound to be the best!

    Wading

In that case I won't stress it - can't see a lot of wading needed for me in deeper water than that. Cheers folks.

    Wading

I have a pretty stock 95 110, with a 300TDi. There's a few fords around the places I want to drive, but as a total novice I figured it best to seek advice - what do I need to do to her before driving her through up to 3 foot of water? Any prep? Do I need a snorkel? Any tips on driving technique...

    Does this work?

Watched something on TV the other week where they tested half a dozen "performance enhancing" additives that claimed to boost power output for boy racers. ALL of them reduced the power of the engine, some by 10% or more!!!!!

What have you done to your Landie today.

Replaced a missing door strap on the passenger side, put a new petrol cap on (old one didn't lock). Then took it on a lane for the first time since buying her (only a short one) and got her muddy for the first time :)

What have you done to your Landie today.

Got my 110 a month ago. So far have cleaned and degreased everything in the engine bay, carpeted the rear, painted the rear door sill, re-soldered the interior light, added some lights in the back, repaired the dodgy heater controls, cleaned and rustpainted the battery compartment, added some...

    New Owner

Mssively excited still - just spent six hours cleaning the battery compartment and re-painting, cleaning the engine bay out, sorting some little niggles like a corrded interior light and stuff. Unlike my old Vauxhall, I enjoyed doing it too! Balling is very safe - paintballs still sting a...

    Sidesteps

I'm having the odd complaint from passengers in my 110! My poor mother had to crawl into the passenger side yesterday. Can't see the problem myself, but I'll need a step for that door - can anyone reccommend one, with the main criteria being cheapness...?

You can still have plenty of fun balling - and I'll bet it's changed a bit since you played (I played in the mid nineties, then had ten years off and came back to find it's all changed beyond recognition!)

Don't mind a few scratches - all adds character (rather than just looking a wreck like the Omega I just got rid of!!) Anyways, she's been collected, and done the jaunt to work and back several times now - and I'm in love. Wanted a Landy since I was about 8 (I'm now 34) and I'm grinning like a...
