    Would I not feel a lack of bias when pushing the lever to 1&2? It might be a bit reduced but I might be imagining it. does the ball on the end of the lever sit in a nylon cup or something? Might this have broken up?

    I have run my 300Tdi for a year, now, without the fan and the gauge never moves above the horizontal. On the subject of the squeely pulley, check the belt for wear(There is a tell-tale cast into the pulley arm and the engine front cover). When I replaced my old belt all went quiet.

    Great big relay on RHS of engine bay next to fuse box. I had corrosion on the contacts & this gave a load of trouble. On another occasion tapping the sensors did the trick.

    Well the motor is Tatered. One piston top let go and all the others looking poorly. Bores scored, head/valves knackered in the one cylinder. Not sure if this was the cause or the symptom.(High revving) Turbo looks OK, my guess is a ring let go first. So... anyone got a good 300 TDi...

    engine is now stopped by 5th gear stall. recov man says "lifting" - injector non stop firing. 8 like turbo idea as it felt like all 4 cylinders. 300tdi Disco.
