remove rear h/s and leave prop off and take it for a spin...if no noise its the diff when checking the front end over check the output shaft bearing for play on the transfer box as that missleads you when it gives up danny

i reckon u get 7k for it as for the td5 disco...... 4 get it !!! get a 300 b4 a td5 (not sayin it cuz i got 1) just td5 are so unreliable and expensive when go wrong...like oil pump sprocket retaining bolt finding its way loose as usual and a head gasket every few months, o and the od bit of oil...

diffs are cheap enough tho BUT ... if it wtas me :D and it is the diff....get a good second hand one and say you had to get a recon one and ask her for the money .... recon 135 quid...2nd hand 30 ish :cool: hehe but i didnt say that anyhows try that and then give me a bell if there no change...

check the ball join, if thats a no go'er take the prop of and give her a whirl then report back with findings, to give me another brain tickler :D it alot harder to fix them over a computer screen than bein under the damn thing lol danny

the difflock is still in the transfere box regardless just is the linkage arm was removed as land rover thought diff lock wasnt nessicary in their new revised model discovery !! until they had enquirerys about it and thus diff lock was re-enstated on the 2000 models and some 99 models you can...

to eliminate the prop ... take it of and take it for a spin with out it on, but dont forget to engage difflock as u wont get very far :D could be you diff cabbaged or trailing arms bushes worn u definately sure its the back end ?? danny

try looking at the rear a-fram ball joint....mine has a tendancy to work itself loose at times cos of the travle its got and the punnishment it gets,but they have the tendancy to do it anyhows to test chock the wheels...let handbreak off...get underneath and turn the hand break drum quickly...

depends what you want to do... fit a disco engine ? or a defneder engine? disco...average about 400 ish defender ...rocking horse doo doo i got a disco 200 in mine along with a disco box and its brill, you can change gear quickly when you need to unlike before, swinging off the blinnin gearstick...
