Few pics from Wales at the weekend

Excellent pics, looks like it was an awesome trip for you all. Looking forward to getting over to Wales for some extreme laning. :D :D

    Strata Florida??

Is there likely to be a trip out to the Strata, soon (ish)? I really fancy this one but would prefer to tag along with seasoned Strata types. Cheers all. :)

    cranked radius arms

Yes mate, they effectively correct the castor angle to allow stability at road speeds and allow self centering of the steering. You can rotate the swivel ends instead, but this isn't simple without a machine shop to do accurately, hence the aftermarket arms. HTH, Nick.

    Strata Florida??

To come in on this from the noobie angle, I felt it common curtisy to introduce myself in the new members section. Only been on here a fortnight, had a good laugh, had a good welcome , already been on a laning trip out organized from here and not had a single piece of grief. You should of...

Got a couple of short videos also, just need to figure out how to convert them from 3gp into mpeg

    Derbyshire green laning

Yep, to echo the above, a massive thanks to David and Sally for planning such a good day. Had a brilliant time in perfect weather. Also a big thanks to all who made the day as good as it was on my first LZ greenlaning trip and making me welcome. :D

Lol..... I know mate, fitting one isn't a problem, its getting the purchase approved by SWMBO that's the hurdle.

I'll be there. Landy prepped and loaded. :) Does anybody know sign language? I haven't a cb!

    newbie trying to advertise landrover

Thank f**k I don't want to sell Owt'... The hostile banter towards spam is quite refreshing! A spades a f**king spade in my book, I reckon I'm going too fit in well. ;) Roll on Sunday and my first trip out laning with the LZ boys.

Option 1... Passing the Duck Pond with it on your right, continue on for about 300/400 yds and there's a car park on the right. Option2... Passing the Duck Pond with it on your Left, turn round and go to Option 1. :D

    Anyone around for a rescue?

Ouch..... Not all noobies please. :p

    Armageddon

This was pawled over on a kitcar forum i frequent a few months back. Turned out to be complete and utter bovine excrement! ;) Apparently someone in Euroland made a murmer about it and it grew from that quicker than Jacks Beanstalk.

    oil seal

Put a piece of tape or similar around the crankshaft to ease the seal over and use plenty of oil on all faces. Keeping it square as it goes in is paramount, so if you haven't a suitable follower, just use a CLEAN faced hammer to tap it in ensuring you work around it evenly and obviously don't...

Has anybody else chained up their Defender?

Mines chained to a ground anchor I fitted when I built the garage. So, in a locked & alarmed garage, steering disc lock and chained down. Oh yeah, and an Alsation that doesn't do first dates. ;) Sorry, edit to add...... Chained around the chassis underneath and the steering is always on full...

    Anyone around for a rescue?

I'd assume we'll probably never know?? Odds on he won't be back is my opinion, and that stems from agreeing strongly with the above thoughts on it being an attempted theft of some good Samaritans vehicle.
  18. NickT

Why do you love your Defender?

My pick of the previous posts as to be the "Swiss Army Knife" comparison, that sums it up absolutely perfect! I've always had a Landrover of some description for nigh on 23 years now, only had a 3 year break whilst I dabbled in the kitcar scene, but soon got the call of the mud again. :D

    Fed up Land rover owner

IVA is the replacement test for the old SVA. I built a new kitcar 3 years ago that got IVA'd. It's a "Independent Vehicle Assessment" that is carried out at a VOSA testing station via a pre booked appointment. It's a very strict and in depth MOT style affair, but they check absolutely...

The end of laning in the Peaks..?

Yes, me too, exactly the same reply from both parties. At least they're acknowledging receipt of our correspondence, albeit probably not taking it into account! :rulez:
