    Hevac Display + other issues

Saints right, jumpering with a paperclip gets the back working on its own but with the same voltage across half the resistance - twice as many amps and four times as much heat - and the thermostatic switch is in the base. Your back would get warm to the point of ignition! Best fix the problem as...

    fuel leak off pipes

May be getting pushed off by pressure, make sure the pipes forward to the pump and onwards aren't nipped so the leak off can be to the tank not the road! Try twisting a little welding wire round it like a mini Jubilee clip.

    Heated seats voltage

This is where I got mine from. 5 pcs Temperature Controlled Switch Thermostat 45C(N.C) | eBay Get 45 degree NORMALLY CLOSED - NC switches. If you've got the seat base stripped, even if the element isn't broken, I would suggest you splice in a substantial bridging wire where it traverses the...

    Heated seats voltage

Mmmmm? A break is quite distinct so you'll either have continuity or a definite open circuit. Are you sure it's not working. It doesn't get scorchingly hot and you may only tell on a cold morning - that's where the upgraded temperature switch helps. If you've got a good live on the supply and...

    Heated seats voltage

Gazza, Good move getting the bum heaters working before the weather cuts in. There are separate heating elements in the seat base and back that are connected in series via one of the white connectors under the seat. You may be measuring the voltage on the connection between the two that will be...

    A/C belt

Mr Crash, I've had similar problems of belt throwing. Read this thread for where I'm at so far with an alternative belt size. http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f10/part-number-aircon-belt-189731.html Next likely cause is a non-concentric pulley through the crankshaft damper. I've heard new...

    Diff Oil

My copy of RAVE says 75w/90 for my 2001. I've used fully synthetic 75w/90 from Smith & Allens off Ebay. 5 litres delivered to your door for 28 squids. No affiliation just a satisfied customer. Fully synthetic = slightly less diesel into the little door near the back! If you've around 100K miles...

    part number for aircon belt?

Bumping up this older thread with new information. I've been struggling to get the air con to work consistantly across the summer. The belt that was on would drive OK for a while but then start slipping and squealing. I think it was either stretching or settling onto the V ribs as I could...

    Brake disc perservation

Thanks for the advice and the various skits. Don't fret, unlike some who have been on here I don't feel compelled to react and reply in kind or feel the need to have to justify myself! D-T is right, retardation is the most important thing. But I fancy something more than boring plain discs. A...

    Brake disc perservation

I'm heading towards needing to change the P38's discs and pads. Recently I did the same on my sons Z4 and they looked great through his spoked alloys with drilling & grooving plus the caliper picked out in red paint. However some months and much rain later, while the running surface is OK the...

    CD changer - casette stuck

There was a similar thread on P38 changers a while back http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f10/whats-wrong-my-cd-player-184141-2.html If they're the same you may have a CD stuck across 'selected' but in-operative. I overcame mine by taking it out and the lid off, turning the gear mechanism round...

    part number for aircon belt?

This was covered in another thread the other day; http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f10/aircon-belt-feel-off-189357.html I'm surprised the 855 is too long. Try putting the adjuster on the upper tapped hole. In a moment of annalness I checked what is fitted to mine - 4PK836 - and the adjuster still...

    Glovebox stuck shut

Guide with photos available here - Opening a Stuck Glovebox Door (Range Rover P38/4.0/4.6) It's on a LH drive car but I guess the door and fittings will be the same. Some duct tape over the door edges should protect it when the screwdriver bits are wedged into place.

    aircon belt feel off;/

One of the suppliers on Ebay lists two different belts and I'm not smart enough to know why there are two and which one fits my engine? 4PK840 and 4PK855. Not that I need one at the moment but when I do I'll be confused and then delayed!

    aircon belt feel off;/

The adjusting pulley has two alternative tapped holes in the front of the engine for the 13mm AF bolt. You can select whichever is best which may get a slightly different length belt on? If the difference in length is noticable this won't take it up - and the belt size is wrong!

I'm working myself up for doing this soon and found a photo step by step guide on t'internet - but wasn't smart enough to save it. There's one out there somewhere (maybe on here) if that help's. Clarky's right, I can see the top rear bolts over the top of the chassis and everything looks...

How to change 2.5 diesel serpentine belt

Just finished struggling/learning to fit a new serpentine fan belt to my 2001 DHSE. I thought it may help others to describe how I ended up getting it on, a bit of a how to, cos it isn't obvious and as usual you can't see or get your hands in etc etc. Getting the air con belt off is the...

Where will I find the non return valve ?

I’ve groped mine out in the past when I couldn’t get a squirt out (!). As said above it’s behind the LH bulb hatch, upwards and behind the insulation. Have a grope about and you’ll find it and can drag it towards the hatch. If it’s blocked I found that putting a...

What's wrong with my CD Player?

I’ve had similar problems with my changer. It was all jammed up when I got it, one CD was selected across but wouldn’t play or reject. Once I’d sorted that, see below, I found that the player wouldn’t always pick up all or some of the CD’s. I can tell if it’s going to work when the...
