    Newbie query about 90 lights

Thanks for all the input folks, quick update following further investigations today...... The switch I thought was for the WIPAC lights is actually for the fan behind the radiator. As far as I can see this is the only way to operate the fan as it doesn't appear to be connected to a thermostat...

    Newbie query about 90 lights

pmsl, thanks Turboman, to be fair...more of this one is probably post Defender than pre Defender now! I've been trying to find a paintcode for the green and was advised it'd be on the door jamb; it isn't. And having spent the day giving it a damn good clean and hoover (definitely the first time...

    Newbie query about 90 lights

Aha! Thanks Hicap Phill, yep, I've spent most of the afternoon flicking switches, getting out of the vehicle, walking around it and trying to see if anything has turned on or off! I thought it might be something to do with the dashboard light, in which case it's confirmed that that bulb is...

    Newbie query about 90 lights

Hi all, I've just purchased my first 90 and at risk of seeming a complete idiot have a couple of questions I'm hoping people here can help me with. I gather my beast is a bit of a bitsa, it's a 1987 pickup that was originally a V8 Petrol and is now a TD5. I've just had a local garage replace the...

    Can anyone recommend a company who could rebuild/repair a 1992 defender 90?

Hi James, might be a bit out of the way but there's Wallis Defenders just outside Cambridge. My 1987 90 is currently enjoying something of a 'spa week' there as they sort out a miriad of issues ranging from new brakes to the steering, iffy gearbox, prehistoric filters and various split hoses...

Road Tax query for 2010-15 90's

Thanks Wimblowdriver, the only issue is that I'm trying to compare various vehicles for sale through umpteen dealers so don't have sight of the V5C. I'm starting to wonder if the body type you mention has some bearing on it, I've found two 2015 2.2XS Station wagons, both with exactly the same...

Road Tax query for 2010-15 90's

Hi folks, I'm hoping someone here can give me a straightforward answer that so far hours of trawing through Google hits has failed to do... I'm looking to get a Defender 90 from 2010-2015 and am trying to make sense of the road tax bands. I was using the cartaxcheck.co.uk website, but it's not...

    How heavy should steering be?

Thanks Rob, that's' definitely something I'll look to do in the future. I'm in the middle of a rather nasty 3-yr-and-counting litigation with a cowboy builder who pretty much wrecked my house so buying the Series was supposed to be a bit of let up in all the angst. Never mind, hindsights great...

    How heavy should steering be?

Unfortunately, I can't declare it SORN as I only have the new keeper slip and the dealers *claim* to have posted the V5 to the DVLA despite knowing there's a huge backlog due to the current situation. The only way around this would be to fill in the various DVLA forms to register the car using...

    How heavy should steering be?

Thanks for all the comments folks. Upshot is that after a great deal of unpleasantness it's gone back to the dealers. It was supposed to have had a full service the day it was delivered to me; I have their branded service book with their stamp in for that day, but it clearly hasn't had any form...

    How heavy should steering be?

Hmmm, that's something the dealers started to try and use as an excuse; brakes are binding or a freewheeling hub has an issue. -The tyres look to be standard. It's not a monster truck type monstrosity. Apparently it does have freewheeling hubs fitted through the dealers didn't appear to know this.

    How heavy should steering be?

Hi folks, I apologise if this is going slightly off tangent from my previous thread, but matters have taken a rather unhappy twist. So, I bought my late Series 3 from a 4x4 dealer, and it supposedly came with a new MOT, full service and 12 months warranty. First issue I noticed was the steering...

Can you adjust steering wheel height?

Thanks for the replies folks. Okay, to stop the panic about the steering wheel...I should have said that I had added a cushion (not a terribly big one) as without it the clutch pedal feels very high indeed. Without the cushion the steering wheel is clear of my legs, but does still feel quite...

Can you adjust steering wheel height?

Hi folks, well my dream car has just rolled off the back of a trailer...its a 1982 series 3 88, so I apologise now for what will probably be a string of "what's this" questions. I do have the owners handbook and the Haynes manual, so hopefully most will be answered in that, though there do...

2008 FL not starting when warm

Hi folks, I have a 2008 Freelander 2 HSE which is already on borrowed time thanks to a persistent battery drain issue which 3 garages have failed to pin down. However, having gone out to look at a new car with a view to p/xing this one, I seem to have angered it even more. The drive back from...

    Another newbie hello

Hello all, I found this forum by chance whilst looking at old landy's. I currently have a Freelander 2 as my day to day driver but have been quietly hankering after an older Series II or III for many years. I haven't fully explored all the forum sections so maybe someone can point me in the...
