New faultmate FCR for P38 any good?

I couldn't agree more, MHM. The product is undeniably a good one, but the customer service let me down very very badly in several areas. Personally, I'd like to be able to use the Faultmate and not just have a "dead" piece of electronics lying around gathering dust, useless to everyone but...

New faultmate FCR for P38 any good?

Response to BBS Guy Firstly, there is nothing whatsoever conflicting about how I bought the Faultmate - I made enquiries via your website, you refused to deliver it to an alternative address unless I paid cash into your bank account. End of. As I would have had no comeback if you had somehow...

New faultmate FCR for P38 any good?

There was a complicated procedure about having to register on their forums before they would send you a code, so I did, but it took several tries and persistance to do so - finally got a message that I was registered a few days later, then discovered that I couldn't get the codes anyway, as with...

oh and also my batt went dead trying to start it now it says on dash...

Sounds like the battery is not 100%....this can give all sorts of error messages and weird things start happening. Charge it fully, reinstall and ensure the connections are really firm, then run through the setting of the windows and sun roof as described. Hopefully, you won't get the lockout...

New faultmate FCR for P38 any good?

That's just the problem - they refuse to provide registration support via email! Yu are just referred constantly to the contents of the small booklet sent with the kit. Its a real shame, as it was always excellent kit - I saw it in operation (the older Rovercom) many times.

New faultmate FCR for P38 any good?

A Tale of Caution re aftersales support and service as experienced by me....... Bought a new Faultmate Extreme SV kit around November-ish 2009 sometime having wanted one for years and years but could never afford it......having scraped up enough for it, after 5 years of owning my Rangie, I...

    Key Fob repair

The main stealer has to order it from Huf in Germany...a new one with key, programmed to your car is around £!50 according to Hunters both in Derby and and Norwich....never heard of one for £38 other than on ebay and it can't be programmed to your car!!!

    Side steps

I agree - the car looks good with them, but, just like wheels, there are some horrible looking ones out there....I reckon just choose what you really like and go for it - it does help shorter or less mobile / older folk get in and out without feeling like they've a mountain to climb, as well...

    Side steps

I think some styles look really good - a bit like wheels, some look awful and don't suit the car, while others I think do. I had some fitted when I bought my Rangie 5+years ago and have never regretted it - there were original Land Rover accessories including running boards, but I had a pair of...

    Key Fob repair

You can order a new working key fob ONLY via a main stealer - you will need the registration docs of your Rangie and about £150 - they have to order it from Germany. Don't waste time and money trying to buy them on ebay THEY WILL NOT WORK ON YOUR CAR. EVER. Do a search on this topic!!!

    Parking Sensors For P38

Just fed up waiting for a meeting , checking corporate emails and staring at the 'pooter so thought I'd be ever so helpful now that my Rangie problem days are over (well almost!!!):D

    Parking Sensors For P38

Parking sensor kits are generally not difficult to connect up, but if you have absolutely no electronic know-how, a P38 Range Rover with its complex electronics is probably not the best place to learn how to do it...... Obviously you need to drill into the bumper to fit the sensors (usually a...

    P38 electrical faults

Even if it is the BECM, which it doesn't really sound like at this stage, it won't cost £20K to source a machine to get it sorted!! There are people on this board who can program your BECM for quite a bit less than that......:) and possibly even supply a replacement working BECM at a decent...

huge electrical problems / becm ?

Oh dear....water and BECMs do not go well together and in combination with WD40, may have completely killed your BECM....... You really need the expertise of someone like IrishRover, a member on this forum, who has the hardware / software and the knowledge of BECMs to be able to test it for you...

    Wheels

Big low profile wheels on a Rangie aren't the most comfortable ride and in your neck of the woods, they must be a nightmare on snow and slush. I think the best wheels for drive quality for the P38 are 18" - there are a few styles around, Mondials I think look better than Hurricanes, but aren't...

    Vredestein Quatrac 3 SUV tyres

I meant to add - I have Vreds Wintrac Extreme XL and they are great- huge difference-. You need to change winter tyres at around 4mm though, not the 1.6 legal limit, as they lose effectivity if they get very low even though they may still be legal, there would be no advantage to having them.

    Vredestein Quatrac 3 SUV tyres

Ambient - ie just the air temp. If temp outside is higher than single figures, the softer rubber does wear quicker, no problem to using them though if you want to - see post above. There are people who leave them on all year round, and they are cheaper than "normal" tyres.

    Vredestein Quatrac 3 SUV tyres

Do a search on winter tyres, here and on google - you'll find Vredestein are highly thought of. I posted recently about my experience with them, as well. They operate best in temps under 7C, consistently above that they will wear out quicker as they are much softer rubber. Having said that, they...
