P38 windows, mirror and sunroof not working

Same with sunroof - open and close in one fluid movement and also tip up and down again. If the central console switches don't work the windows or sunroof at all then the switchpack had probably blown, its a common fault and easy to fix, although the switch pack is expensive, beware ebay used...

    Heating issue P38

Blend motors or HEVAC unit......do a search on the forum, zillions of posts on it. Fiddly fix to do yourself if its the blends, HEVAC head unit is pricey. Ideally you need to have Rovacom or Faultmate or Autologic plugged in to diagnose the problem first, as both the problems above are quite...

Intermittent Problems - Oh the joys.......

There's a chap who does mobile repairs who does three brand new blends within 3 hours or so total for a fraction of the stealers price - I have his phone number, PM me if you want it. I've been happy with his work, but he doesn't have a Rovacom / Faultmate so you will need to have the blends...

Intermittent Problems - Oh the joys.......

I had the same problem with mine - changed the blend motors and it seemed ok for a while then started again - open book, blowing hot one side no matter what, then blowing cold no matter what temp was set at. Then changed HEVAC head unit - no more problems for a while...then it started all over...

all 3 turn lights stay on

Sounds like a bad earth or a battery problem - RRs hate batteries that are even slightly less than perfect!! Failing those two, BECM I would think...PM Irishrover, he may be able to help!!

    rain water

The pollen filters can cause this - worth checking unless you've changed them recently. Many people don't know about them and they stay unchanged for years, clogging up and eventually causing a flood!!

Stereo Setp on a P38 HSE

If its a 98 I think it is probably the Clarion - if you take a pic and upload it here, we'll be able to tell you. If its the Clarion you'll be in luck, it can be fully serviced and repaired locally for about £70 - the company used to advertise on ebay. If its the later, supposedly posher, Alpine...

P38 4.6 - New owner - battery drain and water leak!

Yes, stray signals can still wake the BECM even when the original RF Receiver antenna has been connected. Why not spend the £100 for the new version and know that you have saved yourself hours of wasted time and bother? At least you know then that the RF receiver is not going to be a problem...

    P38 HT Leads

Rpi fitted the blue ones on my Rangie - they are recommended for gas and also provide the extra performance lift I mentioned on normal petrol V8s without spending the extra on the reds - apparently these are used in racing cars / event cars.

    P38 HT Leads

Expensive ones, of course! :) Jokes aside, they're NGK - can't remember the exact plug specs and its tooo cold and dark to check now - cost a lot more than the cheapies, but the cheapies are like buying car boot speaker cables for a set of Wharfdales and a Denon amp......

    P38 battery problems again

I'm sure Gav and some of the other guys will be here soon to give more detailed info on exactly how to check the battery - you could also have it checked free by one of the franchises like National Tyres / Batteries. Sounds like it isn't holding a charge or that something is running it down - if...

    P38 HT Leads

I paid £75 for the set from RFi, they fitted them while I had my Rangie down in Norwich when they did the Konis as well. Can't remeber offhand what the VAT and fitting was. Fantastic, the performance difference was instantly recognisable and my driving style never changed, but the fuel...

    P38 HT Leads

Magnecor leads are fantastic- what a difference to the cheap junk used as OE on the Rangie!! Performance boost and better fuel consumption. They are not cheap, but I can recommend the upgrade highly!

    hevac system

May just need the bulbs replacing on the rear of the HEVAC display unit from the sound of it...you need to remove the HEVAC head unit to get to them. They only cost pennies. Replace all while you're about it.

    Over to the U.K.

Hope to meet up when you're here John, so you can show me round my newly acquired Faultmate Extreme...which I've still frustratingly not managed to activate yet (serial / usb cable was needed, got it now but the Rangie's now back home and I've got the Audi S8 in Norfolk!!). I need to plug the...

    p38 ignition barrel replacement

I understood it was integral to the whole column....when I thought I may need to replace mine I made some enquiries and true to form, it was not as simple as just replacing the barrel the entire steering column had to be replaced at huge expense; luckily for me it was subsequently not necessary...

    P38-Disabling the Imobilizer

Fit Konis rather as the performance is better, unless you intend doing a lot of offroading. I've just had Konis fitted and they are brilliant - what an improvement on the wallowing around corners etc from the original OE shocks!! Had Bilsteins on my previous 4x4, a Nissan Patrol, which I used...

Thanks J T R :tea: I think the long runs help the fuel efficiency as the Rangie isn't a car which enjoys short stop-start trips and it performs at its best on the open road (if you can find one that hasn't become an impromptu car park these days!!!). It also helps if you know the car and...

I only use BP Ultimate in my Rangie unless there is no BP garage nearby. I don't care what the Which? Surveys had to say - they didn't do a trial on a big engined car - and I am convinced that the engine purrs along smoother and with excellent performance compared to the lower octane fuel. I've...
