Just replaced the rear UJ - too small??

Ok, well... My Fender is now worth 8p more than it was yesterday! I have to say the fit is perfect and whilst it's not going to be a permanent fix (I say that now!!) it gets me over the immediate problem of not having a working Landy. Thanks guys!

Just replaced the rear UJ - too small??

It was a 2.5 petrol but been re-engined with an Isuzu 2.8 TD. As far as I know all the transmission from the gearbox onwards is original so standard to the 2.5 petrol for 1987.

Just replaced the rear UJ - too small??

Guys, Just spent a few hours replacing the rear UJ (where prop shaft connects to rear diff), all went ok except that I noticed a small amount of lateral movement in the joint when assembled. I fitted it and gave it a short test drive and sure enough the joint is slipping up and down on the...

First of all, huge thanks for your support, really appreciated! Well, got a lift back to the Landy at 7:00 this morning and tried a few diagnostics and ideas supplied by you guys. Long story short, no joy with fuses, temp earths, starter motor connections etc and was just about to take the...

Thanks, but I've tried that, used a jump lead to create a temp earth, no joy. The battery checks out ok with a meter, this is weird!

    Stranded, dead electrics, please help!

Guys, I'm new on here so don't really like to shout out for help, but I'm a bit desperate. Just driven about 80 miles and almost home, stopped to pick up some food and went to restart the Landy (Defender 90, 1987 with Isuzu 2.8 TD). It's totally dead, no lights no dash lights, no nothing...

    Yet another alternator problem...

Sorry guys, I realise that alternator probs aren't the most exciting topic, but this one is beating me. Basically, it's a Defender 90 that has been re-engined a while ago (previous owner) with an Isuzu 2.8 diesel. When I turn the ignitin key the battery light doesn't light, when I start the...

    1987 Defender 90 - Weird electrics?

I've done a few searches and realise that electrics are a common problem on Defenders, but I still cannot see the best way of fault finding my problem. Basically, If I just have the radio on, all is ok, if I then switch on the sidelights, when I indicate the radio cuts out, glitching in time...

    Where do my balls go?

Sorry guys, dumb noob question coming up :o I've got a pin missing from one of my rear door hinges, so I bought one of those stainless steel replacement pin kits that come with a spring and a brass ball. I know this is a dumb question, but does the brass ball go at the bottom of the hinge...
