Is it worth a punt?! - 2000 V6 with Cyclinder head gasket fail

Hi, I'm an escapee from the defender forum! A pal of mine has a 2.5 v6 X reg (2000) Freelander which has blown a head gasket. 64k on the clock, two owners and him. It hasn't moved for over a year now, and he's looking to scrap it. Is it worth buying off him for £300 and trying to put it back...

    my restored 110.......

Fantastic job - very jealous! My 110 has just had the MOT death knell through a rotted chassis, don't have the time to swap it over for a new one, so getting it welded. After beating it with a hammer to look for the solid metal, it looked like it had been machine gunned - £600 to get it done on...

    Clattering for beginners

Matt! Do you mean "new to you" or actually "I've won the lottery" new?! If you have a smartphone, use the record function, most of the mic's are pretty effective close up, you'll be able to demonstrate the noise and they can't really dodge that. cheers K

Second row window glass refit horror

Hi, here's a couple of pictures of the new door. It is expensive, but the doors I looked at were dreadful, and all of them needed welding in some shape or form, and all of them were over £100. So I might have to wait awhile to get Door No#2, but atleast I know that it will be solid and a quick...

Second row window glass refit horror

Will post a picture on Sunday. The door comes powder coated matt black, which is ok for the moment, as my landy is black-ish, if you exclude the rust.... :( As for spraying it, I did the whole landy myself, and will likely respray again during the summer. Only took an afternoon with a £60...

Second row window glass refit horror

Got the door from "the nice lady Diane"! (Landefender 4x4 parts) - It was fine, a bit pricey though, but well made and all the drilling/ bolt holes/positioning etc. were spot on. It took around 4 hours to do, but I reckon when I do the other side it'll be a damn site quicker. The last thing I'll...

Second row window glass refit horror

Panic over - Just used brute force. I had no idea that these windows could bend! I took off the screws that held the bottom of the runners on and with a bit of effort and copperslip it slide up. Hurrah! K:D

Second row window glass refit horror

Evenin! Got my new second row door, but can't get the main glass back in. Everything is off, (winder, winder plate handles etc.) I'm sitting with a bare door (apart from the window runners etc. ) and I can't work out how the glass goes back. And before someone says "The same way it came out"...

Wanted Urgently CSW rear side doors

Hi, yup, the price is ok, considering what I was looking at paying for pre-rusted secondhand doors. Will keep you posted on progress, and put some pics on this thread in a couple of weeks time (if I still have fingers to do so!). Cheers K

Wanted Urgently CSW rear side doors

That's an excellent link - thanks saxmanuk! (though no pictures unfortunately). Will have a neb at my side door innards tonight, see if I can work out how to shift the bar. By the looks of things it's definetly going to require the winder mechanism and a doorlock. Will drop nice lady Diane and...

Wanted Urgently CSW rear side doors

Ofcourse! (forehead slapping moment) - The shape of the side door would stop you winding a full sized glass down it. Doh. Ok, I may have to take a leap of faith then and order the door. Let the butchering begin!! I can see me having £230 worth of scrap by the time I'm finished with my grinder...

Wanted Urgently CSW rear side doors

Re Station House - Hmm, might be tempted, hand't realised that you could convert - will have a neb on paddocks etc. and see how much it all comes to. I'm sure I don't need both my kidneys, but I definetly need some side doors ! Thanks for the info! cheers K

Wanted Urgently CSW rear side doors

Hi, I've been looking for a pair for ages with no luck. Have certainly found a few online and via ebay, but in some cases they've been in worse nick than mines, and in others are overpriced in addition to being humped. Have been taken to the cleaners by a "well known" online parts finder, but...

Howdy! getting desperate re my second row doors. Have found a company but they only have 110/Puma doors - I wouldn't have thought there was a difference (apart from the window configuration), do any of you good people know if there's a difference ? Thanks in advance cheers K

    Door Trauma 110 300tdi

Hello folks. My rear doors on my 110 are humped. I've patched them, and the guy who had it before patched them (apparently with pre-rusted plate...) I can't do anything more with them. Having trouble finding second row doors online /second hand - anyone got any ideas where I can get them at a...

    Electric fan

yup, i fitted an electric fan and got worried that it never started up, yet when I turned the thermostat down it would come on. Ended up fitting a light to the dashboard so that I knew if it started, and apart from once last year being stuck in edinburgh in traffic for about an hour (the light...
