    Air con both pipes hot

I have a sudden spurt of enthusiasm to sort some more niggles out on my P38 following the unexpected MOT pass this week. Dunno why I thought it wouldn't get through, but I've become more pessimistic since owning it  On the hottest bank holiday weekend I can remember in a long time...

    P38 Sunroof

Got hold of a sunroof key and tried your suggestion, which hasn't resolved it. The motor turns but it sunds like the gear teeth are slipping against a cog. I'll take it apart and see what horrors lurk beneath. Is it me or is it hot in here?!

    single point lpg

Late in joining this discussion, but for what it's worth, I have a 1996 P38 4.6HSE with 127k miles and an OMVL Millenium system identical to the parts in the photo a page or so back, with a tank in the spare wheel well. It was fitted by a previous owner in 2002 through a LR main dealer. It had...

noise and vibration from above dash

I changed my pollen filters yesterday and there was a loud vibration noise afterwards. There was a build up of leaves trapped in the space in the bulkhead where the fan spins. I took the pollen filters out again and hoovered the leaves out. All quiet now. Might not be same problem as yours...

    Leaky air spring

Well, you live and learn... broken collet and only one 'O' ring to be found in my air spring. Previous owner or whoever did this was a right bodger - and that's saying something coming from me! For less than a fiver, its fixed and soapy water test shows that there are no further leaks...

    Leaky air spring

What a gent you are. I've managed to get the collet out, but it's pretty useless, so I've found a supplier at Jaguar | Land Rover spare parts at British Parts UK They have the collets and the famous 'O' rings so I've ordered some of each and it only comes to a few quid. I think the air line is...

    Leaky air spring

Needs a new brass collar. When I pulled the hose out, the collar came with it. Obviously I hadn't got a firm hold with the pointed pliers. Not a major problem, but I noticed that the one of the 'teeth' (if that's the right term) was missing and looks like a previous owner/fixer put it back...

    Leaky air spring

Have done the soapy water test and find my front o/s spring is leaking from the brass union on top. I've watched the RSW video, but wonder whether anyone has actually done this repair? Can you really source the O rings? I think this explains the vague steering I've been experiencing.

You might be on to something here... drag link was changed in May 08. Worth a look, thanks.

    Steering damper change P38

Changed damper. Had tracking done. Still feels like someone else grabs the wheel randomly and pulls it in one direction or the other. Not fiercly, but just enough so that you have to correct it constantly. I've been thinking about the power steering pump/fluid/belt. Could there be a fault...

Had any bad experience with Lancaster Insurance?

Had a letter from them (Lancaster)today. My underwriters have sent THEM the cheque for some reason?? I had to do all the chasing and form filling, Lancaster did sod all and sent me round five or six departments every time I rang them to get a straight answer to a simple enquiry. I dealt directly...

    Independent landie garage north London

Had a leaflet left on my windscreen recently from www.brookfieldsgarage.co.uk They're in Barnet. For my P38 4.6HSE they quoted the following. Service price starts from £150. up to £750 for a major service depending on year of vehicle, All prices include vat and genuine land rover parts are...

    Steering damper change P38

That was done a few months back by the previous owner. Steering feels a bit vague. Bundle of papers came with the car and no mention of damper ever being changed. Shocks etc done a couple of years back, so I think its worth the cost of the part and my time to see if I can improve the feel of...

Clarion CD changer & village idiot

At the risk of totally mugging myself off to the nation, but hopefully helping other village idiots in the future, I have continued the battle of sorting out niggles with my recently acquired 1996 P38 4.6 HSE Last night, I decided to put some CDs into the autochanger and my heart sank at the...
