Ok is there a click sound from the starter / ignition relay when you turn the key to start position? Ie theres a click but the engine doesnt turn? This happened on mine and it was fixed by simply cleaning the smaller lead connection on the starter motor solenoid.

Maybe but sounds like a possible fault through the flasher unit where its found a path to the ignition wiring

Totally agree, a rebuilt NA will last, if you get a second hand TDI you will still have to rebuild it one way or another. Like Flat I love my N/A motor, cheap parts and simple to work on. Will be doing a full rebuild on mine, probably next year as slight oil seep from front and rear crank seals.

Also the rear A frame ball joint, jut did mine and stopped a pull away clunk. Can also be caused by worn UJ joints on props as they can clunk on deceleration and acceleration ...oh and welcome :)

Yep agree with that! various ones about so make sure you get the pump with the fittings in the correct orientation, look where the pipes are and should be obvious :)

Better than no Landy at all though, feel your pain
