Mine needs a little blip and its new, but yep I know the prob, my old one started to need higher revs, which can be the regulator / rectifier and brushes. Mine eventually failed and it was the regulator as suddenly started to throw out up to 18 volts! You maybe able to get the parts and rebuild...

+1 My Old fused positions used original wires just mounted onto new fuse holder, but new positions had new cable so its easy to fault find. Many people load up existing supplies that the wiring simply wasnt designed for. Have seen some pretty nasty bodges and melted cabling in the past. Relay...

Mindless! My neighbour used to be on call to go and fix clients Mercs so whenever on call he had use of the company Merc. Almost every time it was parked near us over the weekend some twunt broke the headlight wipers off it! Nothing else just both wipers? needless to say they dont ask him to be...

Have seen a couple of threads on here about this. In most cases if the vehicle was originally fitted with one then it must have one for it to pass the MOT. However I think theres been a few loopholes, so maybe your vehicle falls into this? Am sure a more knowledgeable post than mine will be here...

Depends on what you wish to power off it? Most gadgets and stuff take an amp or less, but a compressor could be 20A or more. I recently rewired and replaced my old fuse holders with extra new ones. I needed up to 30A max for the additional positions so ran a cable from the starter motor solenoid...

Shop around theres still good Defenders / 110's coming up for not a lot of dosh, so better to spend a bit on that and improve over time I reckons. Just steer clear of badly hacked about ones, find a genuine one in good order, thats a good base to use while you make all the tweeks that make it...

Sorry for quality of these pics but they show the light rail fitted with home made sliding LED units, the red is relaxing and good for not upsetting night vision while the whites are bright enough to read by. Can turn on or off from inside back of the van as well as from outside.

And pics of the tent made by Mrs Smiley, works great! and is quick to put over the home made slide out rails. Nicely extends the camping space of the 110 :D

Added a couple of 30A terminals to the side of the battery box, this makes it easy to clamp on the compressor croc leads instead of having to remove the seat and cover. Also did a test run of camping and setting up the finished tent (pics to follow) Made a bracket that holds the farm jack...

Have read recently that the airbags start to become a bit porous after around 10 years or so. They then gradually leak a bit but not at a rate that makes you realise they are leaking, so the pumps run much harder than designed for shortening their life drastically
