    rear prop come off

+1 replaced every UJ prior to big off road trip last summer, yet on fitting some I wasnt happy with the feel of them so split them down to find misplaced rollers. Refitted with rollers in place with loads of grease and still running fine even after few thousand miles. On two of the old joints...

how to get bad paint off

So are you trying to save the paint underneath? We had flaky paint on the 110 and didnt want to go the nitromor chemical paint removing route so painstakingly scraped with stanley blades that did the trick then sanded smooth any edges, and keyed sound paint. We then repainted with new colour...

    To save or not?

Worth having a go yourself first, like posts say, gasket sets are cheap and it is good practice to be able to do these things yourself anyways.

    Non starting 19j Engine

Worth a quick try with the easy start spray, will prove valve timing / compression is there. But dont over use it! Had prob with my N/A not firing up but that was the lift pump, once that was sorted I bled system bit by bit and span motor with fuel unions off of the injectors and there was a...

Hi, you asked about MPG in the 110 I have. Average is just over 29 mpg, if you do a lot of big hills it does drop a bit but use good oil and regular changes. I was very suprised to find on our big trip we still got around 26-27 mpg!! that was with it loaded and a roof rack and a LOT of off...

    Interior lights and LEDs

LED's need very little forward current to start glowing, am guessing that there is some solid state switching circuit in your vehicle that is "leaky" . Not up on your car tbh too many electrickery things probably down to my suggestion though as LED's will conduct minimal current and glow while...

    My first ever Defender 90

Looks a great base start vehicle, and yes not a defender, what actual motor foes it have? for the year should be a non turbo, which incidentally have in my 110 and has proved to be slow but absolutely fantastic! reliable and just as fast as any flash git off road. Enjoy ya motor these are just...

Wandering / handling issues on 300tdi disco.

Check wheel bearing play, steering joints / bushes and steering box for excessive play and sounds daft but make sure tyre pressures are correct and that everything spins right

    Pinking

Over advanced timing can cause pinking same as ****e fuel, leaky air manifold inlet, incorrect plugs, and incorrect air/ fuel mixture. Check everything carefully may not just be one thing

around the world in a defender

Did trip to south of France, then back over the Pyrenees in mine with the wife and she did great on the map reading, around 1400 miles of driving and no arguments, but then we have had 17 years of no arguing! :)

    britpart universal joints

3000 miles!!! ouch! what make was that one? Generally GKN parts good, if you compare the rollers from a GKN UJ to an unknown brand the GKN rollers are fatter and the whole race set up just seems better quality. Whatever you fit keep them greased! so many people moan on here about parts failing...

    trip to ypres with a 2.5 n/a

+1 Not fast but did around 500 miles off road over the Pyrenees, steep tracks, rocks, ruts mud and gravel as well as some long road stints and was amazed as it was no slower off road than any of the turbo guys :)

    Land of Confusion and Indecision

Recently bought 5 Event AT's on steel modulars from Tyres Direct total cost was around £540 all fitted. balanced and delivered next day. Same pattern as BF and just did a Pyrenees off road trip with them and they were fab. Good on road and were amazing off road on steep rock climbs as well as...
