    trickle charging

Recommend solar panels with a good regulator unit. Fitted one to my motor home few years back and have it switch able from mai battery to leisure battery and works a treat. This one is 80W and also means I can run a small DC-AC converter without draining batteries. Looking at fitting a smaller...

    Where to leave my 110

Never had an issue with airport long stays, no damage ever but always fit the pedal lock and steering lock just to be sure.

    Water pump failure

Pump will squeal when revved up / ticking over and stationary, wheel bearings only when moving so should be easy to differentiate. Alternator bearings can squeal too but also rumble on tickover. Squeal may even just be the belt slipping a bit, usually worse when just after starting up or if...

    What Landy should i get?

All depends on what you will mostly be doing in it. Talk to an insurance broker to get an idea on cost, though most mainline companies are crap and wont cover off road so speak to a specialist. That aside I have a 110 N/A dull on motorways but its my main vehicle and I love it, cheap parts easy...

    Water pump failure

Over tension can cause early failure, but sounds like you answered your question. How many miles on the pump? They sometimes work on ok even with a bit of play but TBH if its showing wear replacement before failure definitely the right way! :)

    shaking at 60

Maybe lost some weights of the wheels so out of balance. Typical prob that causes wheel wobble at certain speeds. Also as mentioned loose wheel bearings and play in the steering can also give similar symptoms. Can put rear wheels on the front and fronts on the rear and see if fixes it.

    Removing the engine fan?

Keep it standard, simple and nothing much to go wrong. Definitely need the fan if it ends up under load, ie 2nd gear for 20 mins in hot sunshine going up side of a mountain track! was glad mine had one :)

    Got myself a 110,

Make sure anything underneath with a grease nipple is greased! makes a big difference. Also worth running some injector cleaner through may help the smoking. Many of us on here also add a bit of 2 stroke to a tank of diesel as this helps lube the injector pump and also clean the injectors...

    Defender 90 Footwell Repair Panel

Have bought complete new footwells and quite cheap but its a BIG strip to fit them so yep use small sections of steel and weld over and seal. Did this on both sides (until I refit complete foot wells) and 2 MOT's later still fine

This can't be original, can it?

Looks damn good! think rivet counters may nit pic, but looks good value from the pics

Defender pulling left, worse when braking

Agree with above, if its not a a scraping binding brake it can be a geometry issue as I mentioned. Hence asking about the prob while accelerating or throttling off etc as this would show slack in bushes and movement in rad arms and even axle mounts.

12J engine is fab, its not quick but easy to maintain and fix and doesnt have all that pointless electrickery and computer controlled gismo nonsense. My ol 12J got us to the south of France then back to Northern Spain all over the Pyrenees off road! For 68HP am amazed at what those motors can...
