Remapping the TD4 FreeLander is common as hell. I know a few people who have had it done and loads of Land Rover specialist garages around here offer it. I don't think thats the problem... I think something is worn/faulty. Of course the remap may be aggrevating it more / early.

Hi All. We have a 2004 TD4 Auto (Sport) and in-gear acceleration under load causes judder through the whole car. For example... if the car is in 5th at 50mph (1700rpm ish) and you're going up any sort of hill/incline and try to accelerate enough that the engine can pull but not enough...

What the f*ck! The stupidity of that is amazing.

I don't think its a boost problem. Once it 'goes' it 'goooesss'. Its the bottom end thats given up a bit (when its off boost).

with fear of sounding stupid.... How the hell does the rear cover come off the engine. I can see the oil fillter cap will need to come off first - but even then with the 3 screws out it won't budge. Looks like a pipe on the right hand side slots into it!?

Right... I like the 18" alloys on the FL sport, but the tyres they come with are 235/50/18 which really does hinder choice of tyre. The tyres I want come in 235/60/18 (closest match) and I calculate that means the speedo will be out by 4.75mph at 70 - that said, it could be adjusted anyway...

Our TD4 has never seemed very punchy above 3k/rpm. Is this normal on these engines? Ours is remapped so I expected more... and getting from 3300rpm to redline takes FOR EVER - although its very punchy low down. When I rev it (stood still) you can hear the turbo, but, I think I can hear air...

Seems I just got lucky with our spec, as I bought it second hand. Sport Premium also came loaded with Harman Kardon 9 speaker sound system with Sub-Woofer under the floor in the boot. Keeps me happy :)

I suspect you engaged HDC at speed - which will no doubt send you sideways. As stated by other people here, completely stop before using it. That said, I prefer to use the steptronic / manual transmission in our TD4 auto in the snow to simply use the engine to slow the car down. Didn't have any...

Simmilar spec to our 3dr Sport Premium... just without the shake your bones suspension. You'll love it. You'll stuggle to find a blank button anywhere!

Had no idea about the windows... tried them a few times frozen and thought nothing of it - seems they've survived fine. I'll not use them in future without hitting them with some de-icer!

Hi Guys. Reading this with a bit of interest... what sort of airflow figures should I be seeing on the live data through the MAF? I can read it off via OBD, but i've no idea if my figures are "normal" !

I have to say, ours (TD4 Auto Sport Premium) has been good too - although it has the ability to put the tail end out if your on the power a little too early coming out of a corner. I can imagine the additional power from the remap is helping that. Nothing uncontrollable though - and it climed...
