Hi all, Got a problem with my TD5 starting in the mornings... Done the head gasket 700 miles ago and thought this was the reason it was a bit of a pain starting in the mornings from cold. Also fitted new injector seals. Have to pump the pedal in the mornings to get it started..Also fitted...

Hello m8, It,s me again. Got a slight fuel leak from my pressure regulator. Now i,m told this is a common fault with the FPR on the td5. I,m not sure if its the diaphram in side the FPR or the gasket thats failed...I had to make one at the time of refitting the head as i did not get a new...

Seriously considering it after driving it 130 miles today...Very smooth and powerfull. Might just have to take it of the classified section.:):)

Update on my TD5... All smoke now gone after 60 miles of travel and one tug from the Rozzers... Vehicle is running superb so i think i done a good job... Wife now wants to keep it...DOH!!!!:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Got the TD5 back home today after running it for 15 miles and everything is sweet except for lots of smoke which i assume is oil in the exhaust from all the towing we did last week. It is starting to clear though and there's loads of power and smoothness.:cool: Did the gasket on the pressure...

Wish mine was... Got it all back together again and its running :clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2: Just one small diesel leak from the fuel regulator but thats coz i did'nt fit new gasket... Only gasket in the head set that was'nt supplied...That'll teach me eh...New one going on tomorrow...

I,ve put injectors back in there original ports so nanocoms not needed but hey, thanks for that... And Good luck to the new owner...I know they are getting a quality 4x4 but i,ve lost interest in it and the wife wants something else...Maybe a 200 or 300 TDI...Women eh mate.:o

I,m fitting a reconditioned head with all new Valve stem oil seals, so basically a top end rebuild.

Yes it did...In two places...Showed up after heated pressure test. The head had been off before so i reckon it was going when we bought it in August last year... Still hey ho... It will all be finished and up and running like new by this evening mate. And,On Ebay tomorrow.:)

Hello again Mate, Put a Reconditioned head on my TD5 coz the other one was stuffed after head gasket failed big time. Can you tell me if i need to use a computer to reset all the injectors again please.?? Using the same injectors.:confused:

Great.. This scenario gets better by the hour... I,ve had 5 Disco 200 TDIs and this was my first TD5... Will never have another...:violent::violent:

Looks like the head is well and truly stuffed..Gonna have it pressure tested on Monday and then i,ll know for sure. Could get lucky and it could just be a head gasket issue in which case i,ll have it refaced and overhauled..Then refit and sell..:cool:

Found a refaced/resurfaced head on ebay with a warranty for £700 so gonna rebuild it all and then sell it.:D:D:D Thanks for the offer of that head though...:) Found diesel and anti freeze in the sump...So 99.9% certain that the head is stuffed.
