    TD4 Knocking noise

You can do it as long as you are handy with spanners and have all the new bits ready to back. They are held in by the two nuts but if I remember you need a torx socket to take the stud out as well. Garage will have to check which one is duff, unless you are changing all of them.

Td4 Fuel Consumption - What to Expect

I think the auto bit is the answer, as it always ( or should ) have the best gear selected for the conditions.

    Fuel consumption

I wasn't having a dig at anyone, just advising to check first. There are several manufacturers who make switchable 2 to 4WD or vice versa , it's not a new idea.

Td4 Fuel Consumption - What to Expect

It all depends on your right foot.

    Fuel consumption

Before taking any of the drive bits off I would check with the insurance company, as you may find you are making the vehicle totally illegal to be on the road. eg, switchable 4WD vehicles are designed to operate safely in 2WD or 4WD, but the Freelander is designed to be in permanent 4WD ( I know...

    Fuel consumption

I agree with Smythe Cathy, A/C is a big culprit for fuel consumption and that's on any make of vehicle. My son had a 1.8 and it was the mpg that made him change, it's not a good vehicle for around town or short runs if the ££'s have to watched.

TD4 power loss when pulling away.

Let us all know how it got in there in the first place, as it's a new one on me.

    A few Questions?

Hi Rammy, what's the clearance like when you are on full lock?

    TD4 Knocking noise

Take it back to where you bought and get it checked out, if your power and smoothness is ok I wouldn't think it's an injector problem.

    A few Questions?

Hi PaulN, is your mate upgrading a Freelander to 20" tyres? 'cos I don't think they will fit, correct me if I'm wrong.

    A few Questions?

Anyone seen a Freelander with 20" tyres?

    running on sump oil !!!!

There is a note in the hand book which states"CHECK THE ENGINE OIL MORE FREQUENTLY IF THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN AT HIGH SPEEDS FOR PROLONGED PERIODS" basic common sense stuff. FFS if you need to tune an engine stick to petrol. Now that Audi have won Le Mans in a diesel the country will be littered...

    running on sump oil !!!!

First off if you've been in motorsport for years why are you driving a diesel hippo at speeds it was never meant to? and secondly for the sump oil level to be critically low it must have been very low before you set off.

    Freelander insurance

I've done mine with Sainsburys for the last two years, £188 this year for me and the wife, and dont be afraid to change things on the schedule if they don't suit you, pay for what you want not what they want to give you. Two good ways of dropping the premium 1 lower your annual mileage, and...

    OK hows this work then??

Your "foldy" van is obviously not heavy enough,or causing extra drag by being bulky to cause any problem to the motor, so I wouldn't worry, you seem to have got it dead right, happy caravaning.

    Leak in A/C pipe.

The way I spotted where my leak was the oil in the refrigerant had left a mark where it had dripped, its the only clue as you can't see the gas.
