    air flow meter

When the Auto logic was connected did he have a look at the serial data ie Fuel trim per bank, Coolant temp sensor, injection duration, ect. I think a lot of people grab themselves a bit of diagnostic kit, plug it in and expect to get the magic answer in the way of a fault code. The data will...

Just to try and narrow down the fault are all the plugs on one bank definitely not getting any ignition. If you haven’t checked the ignition it could just as easily be the Injectors on one bank because of a failed live.

    Door locks P38

If your door will not open then for obvious reasons, you can’t get the door card off, you will need to remove the weather strip from the outside top edge of the door. You need something like a welding rod to hook the door latch to manually open the passenger door, as long as it hasn’t burnt out...

    p38 drivers window died

You have to find out whether it was hesitant because of the regulator or hesitant because of the electric supply failing. You will have to get stuck in and take the door card off and check the loom, especially along the bottom of the door. It sometimes snags or rubs on the regulator or it could...

    "Sunroof Open " message

Just a quick one about your battery terminals. undo the terminal, take the bolt out and use a hacksaw blade to cut the slot wider. I take about 2-3 mill off. Put the bolt back and tap the terminal all the way down on the battery post and nip it up. Works a treat and you get a good connection...

    Sparking problems

That’s a really good point about the coil. You could never get away with fitting patterned parts to a range rover. I would put them on the crypton and difference in the Plug kv’s and the general running was unbelievable. I would always fit dealer cap, arm and leads and coil if needed. The...

    Sparking problems

There are 2 things to check. With your multimeter check how good the earth is between the block and the negative terminal of the battery. The ignition module has got to have a good earth to switch properly and the Primary ignition has got to be able to get to earth. If the block earth is no...

I agree totally. What I was getting at, is the glow plug circuit ok, then once you know the circuit is ok take them out and test them individually. You have to determine the difference between the glow plug light coming on and the plugs actually getting 12 volts.

    p38 no drive

As mentioned fuse 11 is a common one but the dash normally beeps away and says “Transfer neutral”. I think the instrument cluster dong is the only thing that does break on one of these things.

    Oil leak queston

It depends what frame of mind you are in and how strong you are, wrestling with a p38 gearbox on the drive way isn’t for the faint hearted. Its a 2 man lift. It could be one of those jobs you kinda wish you hadn’t started. I would say garage every time.

Sounds about the next way forward, just to make sure, Before you do, Have you definitely made sure all your leak off pipes are good. I just replace them anyway. Also the one from the pump to the first injector and the one to the map sensor. If they haven’t been changed, change them. Sometimes...

    Freelander injection pump

Is this a Game of state the obvious? “Dom139's problem is” The above method is the exact way to time a pump that hasn’t been locked before removal. It is marked up when the pump is built. I have at least 2 of these every month and there has never been a problem. It’s...

    Freelander injection pump

To time that pump up you line up the woodruff key slot with a mark in the face of the pump. You will see a small score line on the face of the flange. Turn the shaft until the center of the woodruff key slot lines up and lock the pump.

Just to make sure. In the morning put a voltmeter or test light on a glow plug and put the ignition on. Just to make sure the plugs are getting 12 volts. if they don’t come on pull the engine coolant temp sender plug off and this will force them on.
