I guess I was lucky, I waited until 275,000 km until I changed my origional timing belt. The pully was worn out as the side was as thin as paper but the belt was still fine. I replaced the pulleys with the heavy duty machined ones instead of the fabricated ones.

Here in Australia we don't have the wastegate. Its blanked off. How do I increase the turbo boost ? Does not seem to be an option to browes and insert photo?

Hello. My 1995 300tdi vehicle does not have an egr valve but it does have a black plastic item which allows oil fumes from the rocker cover and crankcase into the turbo air inlet hose. This oil is what gets in the intercooler and reduces its efficiency. Would removing the suction hose help any?

Thanks guys. In the end, I paid a Land Rover specialist to clean, repack and reinstall them (New seals etc of course). I think I would have ended up with black grease all over the garage (which is inside the house) if I tried.
