I remember madhatman and the V6 hippo. From memory when I got shot of my V6 there was a sudden increase in V6 head gasket failures. Shame as when the engine is working well it was truly awesome. The grunt of the V6 coupled with 4 wheel drive is fun, especially off the lights in the wet :-)

Hi Guys, Just passing through. I still havent replaced my Freelander :-D

I had a hippo with the KV6 engine and it blew a head gasket at 30k miles. Terrible for a V6 powerplant. I hear tales of lots of people suffering now. I also had an MG TF with the 1.8 litre K series engine. It always sounded rough, didn't have a lot of get up and go for 160bhp and the MG TF...

oh dear. Rover just couldn't do anything right :( Sorry to hear that. I got shot of mine before it blew another gasket.

That has got to be scary. My V6 used to lap it up. Full load, up hill towing an articulated lorry with trailer full of JCB bits, easy crusing at 80mph. She was powerful. More powerful than Mings rocket ship. More powerful than a powerful thing that won a competition for being powerful. I...

I've done 5000 miles of happy trouble free motoring in my Mondeo TDCi :D Boring but reliable. Must be getting old. I'm in the market for a motorbike soon. Right after we move home. The wife doens't know it yet but she will find out soon.

1.8 litre K series engine is rubbish. Under powered in the Hippo and breaks far too much!
