My 1999 TD5 Disco doesn't have (the optional) Diff Lock, I read on another post that that some parts of the difflock mechanism are in all Transfer boxes (with and without difflock). The manual suggests that no parts are already in the transfer box for the lock unless it's fitted. Does anyone...

hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if the smoke was coming out the exhaust then you almost certainly will have done the head gasket.....
