    service items - genuine parts?

Sure its not diesel from one of the bleed off / return pipes? looks too light to be oil.

Hose pipe ban / Washing a Disco

I'd drink the water and wash the disco with fosters personally

    Head Gasket change

If the seats are good and you putting the same valves in the same ports you needn't lap them in.

    service items - genuine parts?

Which side and how high up the engine is the oil coming from? As regards filters and oils that's personal preference and budget, I use OE or genuine parts unless their is a performance gain by using aftermarket, but then mine's a work vehicle and used hard.

    Disco Brakes

Hose pipe ban / Washing a Disco

Think i'll get my waders out and park up in local village ford and wash it in there, probably get pulled in by environment agency for contaminating local drinking water supply.:D

    Service Check Sheets

It's TD5 only - it spins inside a housing using oil pressure to centrifugally remove larger/heavier particles from the oil pre main oil filter.

    Crunch on starting!

I take it TD5's don't have pre-engaged starter motors then?

    Air Suspension

For one off purposes you can remove the pipes (front and rear) from the compressor unit under rear side door or disconnect the ride height sensors and move them up to fool the ecu into lowering the vehicle, with the doors shut and engine running, but no good for a regular way of lowering the...

    Electrical window problem

Disco wired so even with child lock engaged front window switches will still open rear windows though.

    After all this time

Theres lots connected to the propshafts :o but your vibration should be sorted now anyway:)

    Should I buy...?

Knock off £1000>£1500 or more if it's a v8. Just paid £6100 for a TD5 with 107,00 on clock GS good condition.

    200 tdi's and sun visors

    Yes:D

    Head Gasket change

That is valve stem seals, and they'll only get worse, may as well do them now whilst it's apart - they easy and cheap to do - if it's still apart!! ;)

I don't understand what to do next?

The light is on because the air gap is too large and the shudder you felt was the ABS activating because it thought the wheel was locking up and thus engaging ABS, then it realised the error of it's ways and bypassed the ABS - light on no judder. I read previously that you tap them in, then...

    Electrical window problem

Not familiar with that particular vehicle, but later models have a separate fuse and relay for the rear window circuit (under dash). Have you checked for voltage / earth at the switch feeds? either centre console or on doors? And then again for feed and earth at the motors? Does yours have...

1998 V8 3.9 auto gear problem HELP PLEASE

I was thinking more likely the pressure control solenoid (valve) allowing pressure release from the system (located in valve block) meaning not enough pressure is making it into the box (and activating the hydraulic clutches), although a faulty shift control solenoid could cause the same...

    No, but here is Disco 2 TD5 checklist - might give a good idea as intervals are the same;

1998 V8 3.9 auto gear problem HELP PLEASE

So I'm assuming you haven't tried manually changing through the box 1-2-3-D then? because this uses different valves to the autochange in D and quickly eliminate valves as a problem without replacing them, from what you've described & what you've had done already, I'd be looking at electronics...

    Electrical window problem

I would start with checking fuses, and then look to see if the child/isolator switch is faulty, be rare if both went together, but without knowing the history maybe they didn't.
