Have just instructed V8 Developments to remove the engine and rebuild with top hats. What does not kill my P38 can only make it stronger.

Not recommended. The two-teaspoons method of removing needles just wrecks the instrument. And the preset goes wrong too. I know…. Instrument modules are cheap.

that’s what I did, works fine. Don’t try swapping the dial faces for stick-on ones off eBay, just swap out the complete instruments.

Grubbing around in the mud like some latter day peasant. Eugh..! and going so slowly.

I chickened out and got mine transported. £300 but worth it for the peace of mind.

That’s exactly what happened to my 4.0….

I changed all 4 instruments so they matched. Easy job. Odometer is in km but I did not have to do any risky programming…

I just had a similar issue and my P38 is in for head gasket(s) or liners or all the above. The RELD dye went from blue to yellow in less than a minute. Check the radiator bleed hose for a blockage at the header tank end.

I changed my Japanese km speedometer to mph but left the odometer in km so as not to confuse the BeCM. I got a cheap but good UK instrument module for about £30 and just swapped all 4 instruments across. Easy to do as the connectors are in the fixing screws. Was a doddle, and works fine now.
